I have always like Chris Stewart and think he would be good RW for Giroux. I figured a Voracek for Stewart deal with Hitch previously coaching Jake or perhaps Read + if St Louis is pinching pennies.

I would rather just stick with Read and Voracek instead of offering one of them in a trade for Stewart TBH. The whole team has been playing pretty crappy, and I think this is really reflecting on the individual results on the team. Patience is essential here, I think Voracek can be a good 2nd liner who tops out at 60-65(on a good year) points. Ever since Stewart had that 64 point season with Colorado, he just hasn't been the same.

Maybe Briere for Matt Tennyson (the Sharks' top defensive prospect) and a 2nd? Blah blah Briere's kids blah blah ex-wife blah blah won't move blaaaaaaah.

The more I think about it the more I think Briere could be targeted. Not by the Sharks(possibly) but with the rumors Armstrong was watching us instead of the Leafs, Briere might be targeted by them. He is on a type of deal they would love to have, 3 years left but less than 8 million in total money(including this year, if my quick simple math is correct). High cap hit, low salary for a budget team. Also he would be out of the conference so the Flyers don't have to worry about him biting our *****.

Just spit balling, but it would make sense for a team like the Blues to push for him. They do need a #1/2 center in the mix there if I am not mistaken.

I would be so sad to see Danny Briere go. He's my favorite player on the team right now. Every time I get a favorite player they get traded. At least I didn't get a jersey this time.

Rod Brind'amour. 1 week before the trade.

Mikael Renberg right before the first time he left (though he came back and I still have that jersey).

Mike Richards right after he signed the long-term deal.

John LeClair right before he was bought out (which I guess I should have seen coming).

Also my wife got me one of those "Santa Sacks" from the Flyers for Christmas two years ago where you get the signed puck along with tickets...I got Jeff Carter.

These two teams won't make good partners. Both teams need a goal scorer. Yeah we could use some defensive prospects but the prices we'd have to trade for that wouldn't be beneficial.

As much as I would hate to see him go, I think it would benefit the team to get some defensive prospects back in return for Briere. However, this would not help our scoring right now and would more indicate to me that the organization is metaphorically throwing in the towell on this season, which I can't imagine an Ed Snider team doing, especially this early.

I always liked Dubinsky, but isn't he a center? I can't see the Flyers looking to make a move for a center (unless the trade involves more than Dubinsky and a different center is going their way). If anything, I think the Flyers are looking to unload someone like Briere to San Jose. I like Briere so I am rooting against that.

hes played center and LW. At least he did with the Rangers. Not sure if hes played on the wing in CBJ.
I would be pretty shocked if they traded Briere.

I didn't mean necessarily right now too. Armstrong could be scouting for a move in the future. Just throwing ideas out there. This team is struggling, and if it continues, I would rather Homer make some moves to help restock the farm. We still have plenty of young talent to be a competitive team next year.

What do you think it would take to acquire one of Tyson Barrie or Stephan Elliot from the Avalanche?

http://www.hockeysfuture.com/prospects/stefan_elliott/

http://www.hockeysfuture.com/prospects/tyson_barrie/

Both are talented offensive defenseman who could learn one more year from Timonen before getting quality minutes.

Colorado is slumping too and may look for a change.

Something like

Barrie / Elliott for Laughton / Cousins?

Or

Barrie / Elliott + signed O'Reilly for Couturier +?

What do you think?

P.S. Thought about a proposal on the main board but decided to ask here first ;)

I am a COL fan who follows all of hockey. I don't know much about Cousins past what I read and stat watching. I have yet to see him, but he interests me!

That said, I'd do Barrie or Elliot in heartbeat for Laughton. My reason is this, Elliot and/or Barrie may never hit their NHL potential (young and lots of time to grow/learn) and I think Laughton is a lock to be a solid NHLer.

I'd also do one of them with inked RoR for Couturier. As an AVS fan I worry that the value we get back for RoR will be crap, so if we could somehow land Couturier I'd be thrilled.

Is this really a rumor? If so could we get a link or where you heard it from please?

There are a couple of rumblings on Twitter. Not much though (probably to be expected with a trade like this) and I'm not sure about the credibility of those tweeting:

Frank Krulicki ‏@krufrank

Little birdy told me that Blues/Flyers could be prepping for a small trade: Bruno Gervais for Scott Nichol - we'll see.

This trade could never happen, because the Flyers would then have someone who could win faceoffs. And they just don't do that for...I have no idea what reason, but apparently it's a thing. :)

I only see that happening if Columbus finds themselves in the playoff race. I think it's highly unlikely. But if they decided to "rebuild" they need to commit to it and not do these lazy half assed rebuilds that cripple te team now and tomorrow. If the flyers could land savard or erixon it would be a nice pickup. They honestly can't afford it tho.

I was more thinking the trade woul dbe with SJ, not CBJ. Who knows though. Speculation 100%.

yeah they thought Lappy was a faceoff specialist. I loved Lappys game, but a faceoff guy he wasnt.
I would be ok with this trade. gives the Flyers a need. I never liked Gervais anyway so its a win IMO.

And if there is one thing we need its less defensemen and more 4th liners.

I guess its the faceoff wins they are after. Holmstrom replacement I suppose

I don't get the feeling that the Flyers are going turn things around this season, even with a trade. If they DO make a trade, I hope it's not one of the kids. If it's Briere for some help on the blueline, I'd be okay with that, though. Just DON'T mortgage the future.

Laughton for Barrie and Elliot? Done. Let's not quibble about conjunctions. Seriously, though, I'd be fine with Cousins for Elliot (who projects a bit better, as per HF) and would even sweeten the pot with a 3rd.

Gervias goes either means they trust Lilja or Gustafsson is ready to play. Hopefully Gus.
