Welcome to a General discussion regarding TV-Pucken 2018 (Age Group 2003).
This year it is the 60 Years Anniversary for this fantastic Youth Tournament.
It should be a big big interest for the event this year.

I think these District Teams has the biggest chance to win the Tournament:
1. Västerbotten
2. Gothenburg
3. Skåne
4. Stockholm Nord

Outsiders:
Värmland
Örebro
Småland
Ångermanland
Stockholm Syd

Comment: I think Västerbotten will be a really strong Team this year.
They have many HQ players from Björklöven and Skellefteå that already plays in the J18 Elite League.
Skåne has this year 4 guys from last years winning Team and will be strong also this year and many players already playing J18 Elite hockey.
Gothenburg and Stockholm is always good and has always many skilled players to choose from.

Where The Play Off will be played is not announced yet by SIF.
Qualification rounds will be played on Gotland (Region South) and in Östersund (Region North).

Best chance to advance to the Play Off would be:
South: Örebro, Västmanland, Västergötland
North: Medelpad, Norrbotten, Dalarna, SIF-laget

The South Qualification Group looks really weak.
Örebro should win this easy.
In the North it will be a tough battle of the two final Play Off spots.

Any replies to these thougts?

Well, at first many 03 players in Vasterbotten that already plays in the J18 Elite league is a big exaggeration.

There are 4 Vasterbotten players born 03 that have been dressed for a total of 10 games in J18 Elite and J18 Allsvenskan this year. 6 of those games are played by Simon Robertson. The other 4 are shared between 3 players. They have produced 4 points this year, all 4 made by Robertsson. The other have a total of zero points and close to no time on the ice.

To compare IFK Tabys 3 players born 03 have 28 points in J18 Elite together, with Jellvik putting up 21 points by himself.

Using those measurements even Medelpad becomes a contender with Oskar Lasson and Simon Bystrom putting up 15 points together in J18 Elite this year.

I think Vasterbotten will have a good team but they are nowhere near favorites. Their D is to weak if not Elias Salomonsson (born 04) will make a big leap in his development and becomes ready to shoulder a big responsibility this year already.

For me Stockholm and Gothenburg alongside with Skane are the ones to beat this year.

Ångermanland looks just as strong, if not stronger than last year. There should've been atleast four to five 03-born players in last years roster imo. But apparently they decided not to use underagers, which makes them a little underrated this year i think.

From Sollefteå you have William Hildebertzon, Noak Persson and Theodor Wikner. Three really good players. Hildebertzon has already played a game in Div 1, e.g.

In Modo you have Theo Jacobsson and Viktor Åström to name a few. Already top players in U16.

In KB65 you have Axel Näsström and William Strömgren, playing top 6 in a top u16-team.

Behind these guys, a really solid depth aswell.

Angermanland has a ok team, no more, no less. Sure Hildebertzon, Persson and Wikner is ok bur remember that they played big minutes in U16 Elit along with Wallinder and other hyped players ending up with 3 wins and 24 losses and like a million minus in plus/Minus, the same in J18 Elit Forts. 2 wins 11 losses and a million minus!

Theo Jacobsson is a personal favorite and Im sure he will make an impact. Victor Astrom ended up with five points in U16 Elite and Theo 20 points, you can compare that with Team Vasterbottens Simon Robertssons 47 points and Max Johanssons 30 points, Max Lundgrens 25 points e.t.c.

It will be interesting to see if KB65`s 03 players can stand on their own legs, without players like Niederbach, Ahstrom, Eriksen, Stenman and more around them.

Where is Team Angermanlands Defense?

Keep in mind that Västerbotten is missing all the best players from Skellefteå in Norrlandsmästerskapen, because U16 SM collides with NM.
Västerbotten will have a much stronger Team in Tv-Pucken.

I agree with James Creighton, Ångermanlands Team is a OK but is missing HQ players that can win games.
KB65, Modo and Sollefteås 03 guys is not nearby the quality of Styf-Svedin-Niederbach-Åhström-Eriksen-Stenman at the same age.

Norrbottens Team can even be weaker than last year.
Medelpad has a good and heavy first line from Sundsvall: Larsson-Byström-Andersson.
Can maybe advance from the TV-Pucken Qualification in Östersund.
It would surprise me if Jämtland/Härjedalen would win a game this weekend.

The impression of the first days games:
Last years NM had a much higher quality and hockey level!
The defensemen look really weak in the Norrlandsmästerskapen Teams.
Sad that the best Skellefteå guys is missing in Västerbotten....
They would have leveled up NM a lot!

Reflections from Norrlandsmästerskapen 2018:
1. Norrbotten - Con grats to the surprising victory!
The Team played better and better during the weekend.
After this victory, Norrbotten will be favorites in the TV-Pucken Qualification in Östersund.
2. Västerbotten - They played a fast hockey on a good level in all of the games.
Will be strong in TV-Pucken adding the SAIK players.
3. Ångermanland - Has 4 formations that plays on a OK level, missing shining star players that can make a difference.
4. Medelpad - Not so fast Team, plays a tough checking hockey.
5. Jämtland/Härjedalen - The Team is not so strong, but they skate well and work hard on the ice all the time.

Looking forward to see the results in these upcoming Tournaments:
Region South: Aprilcupen, Stenungsund 6-8 April
Region West: RM-Regionsmästerskapet in Karlstad 6-8 April
Region East: 1891, Stockholm 13-15 April

Any interesting players?
Favorites to win the RM Tournament?

Favorites to win is Värmland and Gästrikland (as always in rm of the west region)

Dalarna and Örebro outsiders.

Gästrikland has some intresting players like Linus Lindblom (Oskar Lindbloms younger brother), Joel Holmli (twitter sensation: ) and Tim Dackell (former NHL-player Andreas Dackells youngest son)

Other players to keep an eye on at RM:
Örebro has maybe the best 03 Defensemen in Sweden for the moment:
Simon Forsmark, he has already played 18 games in J18 Allsvenskan.
Dalarna has two FW from Leksand that has played in J18 Allsvenskan.
Isak Rosén (10 games) and Arvid Eljas (4 games) and both has scored.

These 03 players played TV-Pucken with the 02 boys las year:

Eliteprospects.com - TV-Pucken Stats 2017-2018

A lot of of these 03´s is playing in RM. So it can be a very good Tournament.
Looking forward to it. I think and hope that the Örebro Team will win!
Värmland has a good Team and will be tough to beat in Karlstad and Dalarna is an outsider.
I don´t think Gästrikland will be so strong.
Brynäs has not played any 03´s in U16 Elit Västra this year.
Compared to Örebro and Leksand who has played a lot of 03 guys in U16 Elit this season.
Örebro has played 8 guys and I think Leksand has played 13 guys.

Uppland summoned all their 03s (everyone welcome) this weekend.

It looks like a good year for Uppland, they should be able to reach quarter finals, at least.
Both on D and at C/W Uppland are evenly strong or stronger than the Stockholm sides.
Goalie position is a question mark, however.

The team should be heavily dominated by Arlanda and Almtuna. In my opionion only Danielsson (Balsta) and Lofstrom (Tierp) can challange for top 9 forward roles besides the Almtuna and Arlanda skaters. Top 4 D could & should be Almtuna and Arlanda only.

My best guess
G
Very open between:
Sahlqvist, Arlanda
Wahlstrom, Almtuna
Ortengren, Enkoping
Soderqvist, GIMO
Andersson, Almtuna
Top 4D
Asplund, Almtuna
Kita, Arlanda
Wallberg, Arlanda
Norberg, Almtuna
Main challengers at D
Cassel, Almtuna
Hammarsjo-Sarri, Arlanda
Lundberg, Balsta
Westman, Tierp

Top C/W
V. Johansson, Almtuna
Lindstedt, Arlanda
Aaw, Arlanda
Valente, Arlanda
Fagerstrom, Almtuna
Danielsson, Balsta
Lofstrom, Tierp
Ohman, Arlanda
Frylén, Arlanda

Main challengers at C/W
Lif, Almtuna
Gustafsson, Almtuna
Pentler, Almtuna
Karrman, Almtuna
Wassberg, Arlanda
Holmberg, Arlanda
Ronnestål, Arlanda
Aalto, Arlanda
Pedersen, Tierp
C Enander, Tierp
Hofslagare, Balsta
Holmstrom, SHK

Stockholm Nord & South had their selection of 46 players for camps in Mars 23-25.

The Northern side looks strong and deep offensively but a bit top heavy at D (just like last year when Kumlin played every second shift already at pre tournaments). Myrenberg and Persson should see heavy minutes at D.

At C/W Gota and Taby are likely to have some 4-5 players each in the final squad. Likely joined by Ekeros flashy Jennersjo (if management sees enough grit?).

I just saw that Stockholm North and South released the teams for the 1891 tournament. I really miss Hofbauer, Gota (W), Bergstrom, Gota (D), and powerful Taby Winger Ekendahl in Stockholm North. Apart from that, very much in line with expectations.

For the first time in many years AIK would risk to have only some 1-2 players in the final squad. It will be very interesting to see how many of the Gota and Taby players that AIK can convince to change team during the summer.

The Stockholm South looks good as well, likely playing more like a standard southern team – more of a hard working, physical, gritty kind of style (like Huddinge/Flemingsberg) than the top heavy team from last year starring Holtz and Eklund.
The squad would be dominated by Huddinge (that surprisingly won DM for 03 in Stockholm) with strong pieces from Flempan, Taylan (for sure), Jansson (hopefully) and Blomgren and a handful of Djurgarden players.
The team (ex Djurgarden players) would be interesting to watch in the 1891 tournament.

Speaking of 1891 tournament and totally out of topic (sorry for this):

Please let Bo-Buster Björn (Orebro/Narke?) be a superstar!
What an awesome name! I would love to hear american commentators (or Wikegard when Sweden plays) yell that name when watching NHL for the next 20 years...

Some stats from Region East

Major differences between the “districts” in number of players born 2003 that have played U15, U16 or J18 in 2017-18.

Stockholm Syd have 249 (24 G)
Stockholm Nord have 213 (26 G)
Uppland have 111 (11 G)
Sodermanland have 96 (11 G)

Number of skaters competing for each spot (20 skaters) range from 11.2 for STS down to 4.25 for SOD.
Number of goalies competing for each spot (3 goalies) range from 8.67 for STN down to 3.67 för SOD and UPPL

Max Johansson is injuered. Missing is also Simon Aho (Björklöven) both Players is likely to play in first or second line. Aho started the season in Björklöven J18Elit and is a great defensman with terrfic offensiv skils. Hopefuly his back on ice in a week or two.
In the last game in Skellefteå Robertson line seemed to miss Johansson after leaving the ice -1. Hopfully Max Will join the team in a month or two.
