I just clicked back to pages from a month ago in this thread and it sure was being dominated by certain posters who are a complete no show.

    Typical.

Glad to see him playing better. Whatever was going on before the leave of absence seemed to effect him a lot.

We got a solid goalie duo again.

Tuukka has been excellent his last four games. 2 wins and 2 OT losses, with one of those OT losses coming with Tuukka having a .973 sv pct and only giving up the OT goal. The offense hasn't given him much support in those four games and the D has hung him out to dry a whole lot, but Tuukka has stood strong and got the team 6 out of 8 points in that stretch. Halak has had to deal with the same lack of offense as Tuukka as well and has obviously been awesome. These two goalies have been keeping the Bs afloat during this injury-filled month as well as anyone could have hoped for. Blessed to have both these guys playing lights-out most every night.

Tuukka has been playing excellent. I hope it continues. He looks very dialed in.

Sitting next to him for Nifty Night we noticed that he looks even thinner than normal. He was freezing sitting there (we were too) .

No question that leave of absence helped him a great deal. It's great to see him playing so well.

Got his head on straight and is playing great. We have the best one/two tandem in the league, been saying that all year.

Where are those posters wanting Rask traded away from a month ago?

Waiting for his next bad game of course when he becomes the worst goalie ever. I bet every single one shows up next October like clockwork and run away in November and December, like clockwork.

With Rask playing well now, does halak go back to more of a backup? Or will they still be splitting work?

He’s looked great since his LOA. Seeing Rask zoom into the frame ready to throw with Howard was awesome.

I’d still split the load until one of them clearly pulls out ahead of the other. It’s a long season and the idea is to avoid running Rask into the ground for the playoffs like has happened in previous seasons. Best case scenario is that they both stay hot for as long as possible. Great problem to have.

I’ve been hard on Rask in the past but I want to give him props. Ever since he came back he’s been as focused as I’ve ever seen him and even showed some attitude last night going after Howard. This is the $7M Rask I want to see more often.

Any player should be tradeable if the team gets better. Tuukka is no exception, regardless of when he is or isn't on a hot streak.

That said, I have zero faith the Bruins/Sweeney make the team better by trading Rask.

not disagreeing but asking, have we seen a team get better by trading their #1 goalie?

    Immediately/short term?
    Probably not.

Long term, I think there's probably some cases that moving the better goalie, at the time, worked out. (well, one example is Raycroft for... Rask)

Not sure why some fans were on the panic mode. History and numbers showed that Rask always recover at some point. It is optimal? of course not. You always expect your #1 keeper to be ready to roll form the get go. Rask and Halak showed up at the right place/right time for a team decimated by injuries.

Tuukka Rask is 4 games shy of his 469th NHL/Bruins game, which will be the most by a goaltender in team history.

    Going into this season

    upload_2018-12-15_2-6-56.png

I am actually stunned by that.

He's also 7 wins away from having the most wins in Bruins history.

I was looking at all time NHL goalie stats yesterday and was surprised that all-time, Rask and Halak are only separated by 5 wins in their careers. Rask at 246 and Halak at 241.

And yet, with games played and wins he’s still 5th maybe 6th top 10 bruins goalie.

I hate coming into threads and saying I told you so, but it was comical the amount of posters who thought that naming Halak the starter and trading Rask was a good idea to start the year. Luckily we have two solid goalies and we can ride the better one when the other falters.

    I'm one of them....

Guy has been playing pretty well since coming back. I was bothered by his play, and his don't give a **** attitude etc... but since his leave of absence he's been completely different. Good on him. Hopefully he keeps it rolling.

    Wow.

I didn’t realize until tonight looking through stats how close he is to becoming the franchise leader in GP and wins.

They’ve had a lot of stability in net over the last decade. Far cry from the days of my childhood when it was a carousel of goalies and coaches.
