Just like I tell Blues fans around here, if Rask stayed in Toronto who knows what type of career he would have had. I have to have the same talk in St louis when everyone whined about trading away Ben Bishop. Big Ben at least played for us for a while but he needed to get out of the area to mature. Goalies are just crazy hard to predict, just look at Binnington, he was 5th on our depth chart going into last year, you just dont know with em

Funny enough, didn't Raycroft set the Leafs' record for goalie wins in a single season?

Not sure if Andersen's since topped it, but as maligned as Raycroft appears to be at least he accomplished SOMETHING here.
No ties skews these 'records'.

That was one of those eyebrow-raising moments when they traded Rask and kept Pogge.

One backstopped a relatively weak Finnish team to a bronze medal they had no business winning, and the other played on an absolutely stacked Team Canada and did ok.

The hype train is strong.

That said, trading either was a stupid move pressured on by the fact that management didn't want to just sign a veteran short term and risk the team being awful, which it was anyway. Dark days in Leafland that spiralled into a goalie carousel of doom.

Thinking about it makes me want to puke all over again....

Also doesn't help that the trade was with the Boston freakin' Bruins, a division rival that apparently has the Leafs' number.

To be fair, if he was still with the Leafs, it would have taken him at least a couple more seasons to reach that wins target cuz....oof we were bad.

Pogge NHL: 1-4-1, .844sv% and 4.35GAA

I always reason with the WJC, too. Most of us knew little of them outside of there, but something seemed... off.

Lost game 7 to St. Louis but he was pretty damn good in elimination games.
Uhh I think you forgot a pretty big game there. When Bruins are on the brink of elimination he has a sub .900 save percentage.

2013 Leafs Game 7 - 4/28
2013 Blackhawks Game 6 - 3/31
2014 Canadiens Game 7 - 3/18
2017 Senators Game 5 - 2/43

I guess that means he's kept a part of Toronto with him all this time. How nice
