I went back to TSN's top 50 rankings after the draft and I would say its a good job of being close to what happened. Here's TSN's list and where they went.

1. Ovechkin (1)
2. Malkin (2)
3. Barker (3)
4. Montoya (6)
5. Tukonen (11)
6. Schwarz (17)
7. Ladd (4)
8. Thelen (12)
9. Smid (9)
10. Olesz (7)
11. Stafford (13)
12. Valabik (10)
13. Wolski (21)
14. Zajac (20)
15. Schremp (25)
16. Korpikoski (19)
17. Picard (8)
18. Radulov (15)
19. Chipchura (18)
20. Meszaros (23)
21. Dubnyk (14)
22. Bolland (32)
23. Lisin (50)
24. Nokelainen (16)
25. Kaspar (22)
26. Fransson (34)
27. Lyamin (58)
28. Chucko (24)
29. Voloshenov (42)
30. Green (29)

IMO, the best list I saw, 25 of top 30 were first rounders, better than THN. Players not rated in the first who wnet in the first were 5. Wheeler (31) 26. Schneider (34) 27. Schultz (32) 28. Fistric (not in TSN's 50) 30. Rogers (41).

I missed the draft show. Did Maguire go nuts on Milbury this year?

I dunno. During the actual draft they had a picture of him sitting at the Isles table stewing in his juices while they took Nokelainen, though. Clearly that wasn't who Mad Mike wanted.

Anyway, the most notable thing from the list has to be Blake Wheeler, and they kind of dropped the ball on Lyamin and Lisin. Other than that, they did a pretty good job.

When the Islanders made their pick, MaGurie was going on how they made the biggest mistake in the history of the NHL picking Nilsson ahead of Parise and that Milbury had to redeem himself after last year. He called the Islanders pick a "safe" pick and that it's better than last year.

Granted, Parise is awesome, but I'm a big fan of what Nilsson might become. I was shocked by him saying that as well. What lead him to make that comment? Just Parise's play or has Nilsson had some setbacks that I'm not aware of?

I couldn't tell ya man. The way Maguire was talking, how come Parise didn't go top 10 or even top 5? I've got nothing against Parise but with all my hope I pray that Nilsson has a better career then Parise, just to throw into Maguire's face.

I know they had alotta picks and did good with the 3 1st's, but the Caps takin a 5' 7" not uber skilled Bourque when they coulda had either Lisin or Fransson really irks me.

And is it just me, or did it look like the Hawks were using THN as their source for prospect info?

It had been decided by bWirtz last year that the budget for scouting would be 5 bucks.

What the hell did you want them to do? :joker:

Actually Im glad Dale Tallon took over and did the first hand scouting himself. Otherwise it would have been back to Dumas in charge and we all know how miserable that scouting was.

I wish they had a copy of TSN when they took Munro in the first round two years ago.
