How is it possible Trent Samuels-Thomas can play for Utica College even though he played half a season in the "professional" QMJHL? What is the ruling on eligibility with transfers from Q to D3?
Not true. If you play one game in the CHL, you're done as far as D1 goes. D3 must be different. From what I know, if you play a year in the CHL, you lose a year of egibility in the NCAA. Doesn't mean you can't play eventually. But most teams won't take a chance on you.
Not true at all.Not true. If you play one game in the CHL, you're done as far as D1 goes. D3 must be different.
Guess if it's a few games, and probably since he's not really an impact player, you can get an exception. Probably would never see a big name allowed to do it, though.

"Because the CHL includes players who have signed professional contracts, the NCAA considers it a professional league. Therefore, players who have played a game - even an exhibition game - in the CHL are deemed ineligible for NCAA competition.
There are paths to have NCAA eligibility reinstated for players who have played a limited number of CHL games, but they are not guaranteed and must be initiated by an NCAA school."
