I never really thought these tournaments were sanctioned by the NHL or anything, so that doesn't surprise me. I'm personally still fine with these tourneys as is. They are what they are in terms of usefulness, but I'm fine continuing with them as is.

I'm concerned. Svech didn't dominate playing against kids. How is he going to do against hardened NHLers? This trading away Skinner was such a stupid move.

As has been proposed already, I don't think svechnikov was trying very hard in these games. Trying not to get injured, maybe. Whether that's him making a business decision a la Deion sanders or someone upstairs directed him to do so we will probably never really know. I definitely am excited to watch him play in the NHL

I’m, like, about 20% concerned at this point. It’s possible that he was advised to go easy and keep himself healthy. To my eye it was more a matter of playing inconsistent hockey. He would get really quiet for long stretches and then explode through the defense for a great scoring chance often ending in a goal. Success in the NHL is going to require a more even level of play, because those explosive shifts are going to be stopped much more often.

That said, I think it’s inaccurate to imply that he wasn’t the best player on the ice. He definitely was. He had double the points of any other Hurricane, and was PPG on a team that got outscored 17-10 in four games. The goals he scored were legitimate skill plays, and he could easily have had a couple more assists but for factors outside his control. He trucked a couple of guys. He made fantastic passes and didn’t turn the puck over except for the Dallas game.

I want to see him hit the throttle when we reach preseason. Not to burn him out early, but to see him fully rise to the level of the competition.

....and I'm pretty certain, that even level of play is exactly what HCRBA is already preaching. Maybe this is me giving the benefit of the doubt, but it appeared that "turning it up a notch" was pretty intentional.
