How long does the transition normally take? In terms of skill, I would say I'm advanced (i.e. tournament player).

For you, it shouldnt take too long, it took me about a couple of weeks. A lot of the basic things that they teach in ice skating are things that you do rollar blading (i.e. forward, backward skating, crossovers, turns...). The only thing that may be a problem in hockey stopping. It took me a good 4 months to hockey stop properly but other than that it shouldnt take long to transition.
