This Bowman guy....what a shot!!!

I think the phrase was "Lethal Wrist Shot!"

Listening to the Martinook interview on the Canes website, it sounds like he's been skating with Maenalanen and Foegele so far. With Rask out and barring another traded, it's reasonable that is the 4th line to start the season. I don't know that much about Maenalanen, but I heard that he can skate well. Having him be 6'3" and Foegele at 6'2" on the wings both with decent size and being able to really fly might make for a good 4th line.

Five takeaways from Hurricanes training camp

Brind'Amour may be a rookie head coach but does what he says in this article about Kuokkanen, line combinations, and the overall process of getting ready for the season not feel like a huge breath of fresh air? no discrepancy between what he's saying and what he's trying to accomplish behind closed doors either. gotta think he's going to find a way to not be a drag on the team's potential as early as his first season.

“I really like what’s going on with the group as a whole, the coming together,” he said, more seriously. “You can really feel a positive vibe. I love walking through the room. It’s a big change and I’m enjoying that.” - Rod

Sounds like things weren’t very rosy last year.

My takeaways from the article....

I am still iffy on Rod as HC but I am liking the fact that the players like him, never got that vibe from Peters or Muller. Maurice was hit or miss after the 2009 playoffs.

I also like reading that Hamilton/Ferland are both upgrades over Hanifin/Lindholm. I wish Hanifin and Lindy well but won't miss their soft play. Hopefully both continue to improve on their point totals

Glad to read that Pesce feels good.

This caught my attention re Hamilton:

Placed on a power-play unit Monday with Justin Faulk, the 6-foot-6 defenseman gave the Canes two heavy shots from the point along with Sebastian Aho, Teuvo Teravainen and Martin Necas, three skilled forwards.

I realize it’s just camp, Seems like they’d want a net front presence on that unit IF they are indeed planning on Faulk and Hamilton on 1 PP

There was a report, I think either earlier today or yesterday, where Aho was the "net front presence" and was good at it. It is apparently something he did in Liiga play.

Make sense given his style of game. He doesn’t have to truck people, just tip pucks and find space to handle rebounds.
