5 years ago, Boston traded away Lucic to LA for their 1st and backup sensation Martin Jones. Then proceeded to trade Jones to LA's rival SJ for their 1st. So, Lucic for two firsts. Fast forward to 2020, Domi for Dumba. Then, Danault (extended)+Dumba (C and RD) for Laine. Bergevin has to be creative. This offseason and next's can make or break this team's future for the next decade

100% agree , this core needs a huge revamp. This team will not go anywhere with the roster they have right now. Minus we gonna have to overpay more players next season

By being creative you mean creatively obliterating the center depth we haven't had for over a decade?

I agree with having to be creative...but adding Laine and destroying your center depth (thats taken forever to build) is a recipe for disaster.

We dont have crosby and malkin. We have two promising young centers that are almost as old as Crosby COMBINED.

We need to support these two not feed them to the wolves.

Montreal
1. (MTL) Domi + Kulak + 2nd round pick 2020 <-> (NYR) Chytil + Gauthier + 1rst round pick 2020 (22th)

Chytil becomes our third line center for years to come.

2. (MTL) Danault + Caufield + Brook + 1st round pick 2020 <-> (WPG) Laine

Drouin - Suzuki - Laine
Tatar - KK - Gallagher
Gauthier - Chytil - Armia
Lekhonen - Poehling - Byron

That center line is a disaster waiting to happen if we start the next season with it. There's not even one forward that can win a faceoff in that line up & all centers are either 20 or 21.

Danault and a 1st won't get you Meier. Meier is likely a 30 goal 80 pt forward with good linemates and a decent team. Danault is a 15g 50pt 3rd line centre.
Exactly LOL. The overacting of Danault here is unreal. Watch what he actually gets if habs trade him. Which they won't.

Watching Tampa a bit this playoffs, Alex Killorn seems like he’d fit perfectly here. Has good speed, works the boards well, decent hands, and isn’t a midget. With the Lightning in trouble cap wise, he’d be a decent pickup. Maybe for a 2nd rounder or a third and a “b” prospect.

With my other two trades of:

To Columbus: Paul Byron and a 2nd in 2021

To Montreal: Josh Anderson.

To New York Rangers: Phil Danault and Noah Juulsen

To Montreal: Pavel Buchnevic, Julien Gauthier and Brendan Lemieux

Trade Tatar at/or before the trade deadline for picks.

Sign Justin Braun as a UFA for the third pairing, on a 2 year deal, so he can help Romanov develop.

Season starts off with:

Drouin - Suzuki - Buchnevic
Killorn - Kotkaniemi - Gallagher
Tatar - Domi - Anderson
Lehkonen - Evans - Armia
Lemieux

Chiarot - Weber
Edmundson - Petry
Romanov - Braun

Price
Allen

Adds size, scoring, toughness and talent on the wings and a reliable vet defenseman to mentor Romanov.

Sorry mate, no way that they'd give that return! I wish! Drouin's value is VERY low and I can't see them getting Newhook, never mind the 1st as well.

Well, I wouldn't trade Drouin straight up for Newhook...no one knows for sure what Newhook will turn out to be in the NHL...time will tell.
