I'd take both lol. Ehlers is the better player overall while Laine is rounding into a solid overall player while already being an elite goal scorer...albeit streaky.

Domi for Ehlers. We may have to add which is fine, give them a pick or prospect.

Might be tougher with Laine. Caufield, a 1st and a couple other pieces I'm sure. Would like extension prior to the deal.

For a guy like Laine, Caufield is not untoucheable for me. In fact, we hope Caufield becomes as good as Laine is but chances it happens are slim. And since Laine is big and Caufield is tiny, it is a need we fill in the process.

Yea. For a player like Laine, I would move Caufield.

Coyotes seem to like this...

- OEL
for
- 2020 1st (16th OA)
- 2021 1st (Lottery protection)
- Poehling
- Alzner

Inn:
- OEL
- Hall
- Kovalchuk
- Crawford

Out:
- Domi
- Poehling
- Alzner

Fits the cap but tight. List any of the top 3 lines in any order you want. Stop it with the "1st line" narrative. Habs won't be top heavy with our forward group. We would have one of the best D in the NHL in front of Price with 3/4 lines we can roll. Byron and Lehkonon on the 4th line is a good thing people!

Absolutely.

My issue is what Laine expects to get in terms of a contract. Imo, he's going to top out as a 70-75 point winger. Because he's a proven goal scorer, he'll want big money. I'd hate to go any higher than $9M but not sure that's possible. Because he's young, I'd be willing to go for a 7 x $10M. That will cover his entire prime years, hopefully he stays healthy :)

Time for MB to cash in on his depth at center. Fill the need on the back end once and for all. Getting a top 4 PMD + adding Romanov will bring the D to another level.

Sign Dadonov to a 5,5M$/4 years contract. Can play RW or LW. Scored on a pace of 29G and 66 pts per season for the last 3 years. Also, this kind of contract doesn't mess with the salary structure of the club in opposition to a contract we would have to give to Hall for example.

It would be similar to Price if you pay Laine $9M or $10M AAV. Great talent but about $1M - $2M overpaid. Considering we lack shooters/snipers, I'd make that decision every day of the week.

Laine > Caufield. Caufield is a good talent but Laine is better.

NHL Rumor Mill – August 31, 2020 | Spectors Hockey

According to their beat respirated, Arizona is in full rebuild/cost cutting mode. Owner who owns casinos is bleeding cash and wants to slash the budget.

Chychrun is a guy the Yotes should not be trading. But you give a call, offer to take a short term Cap dump off their hands ( Stepan ?, Goligoski, ?Niklas H ? ) , and see if there is anything to talk about.

It doesn't really fit with the cap as a lot of players are expecting raises in a year, and then Suzuki in two years.

You have Domi as out without mentioning where he went. In a dream world trade to Detroit or Pittsburgh for Mantha or Poulin :)

I don't think he would get 10M$ right now. Not even sure about 9M$. Also he would probably wants a shorter term like 6 years to get him to free agency at 28yo, instead of 29 or 30.

I think for a shorter term like 6 years, he would settle for 8,5-9M$.

If you can get wingers in the UFA market, then yes, our biggest need that Domi should be used for is LD. But if you can't get wingers in the UFA market, our bigger need is at forward rather than on D.

* Domi was traded for futures. Pick and prospect that could be in Teasdale or Ylonen's spot below.
* Tatar let go. Would come down to either Tatar or Gallagher. So if Gallagher wants a max deal, Keep Tatar instead
* Byron and Kulak unloaded. Not difficult

Chiarot's salary off the books the following season. Cap will grow with new US TV deal and Seattle revenue after the 21/22 season. Weber has 3 years left and Suzuki gets his cap space after his bridge deal. I don't see major cap problems. Not one bit. Especially with the amount of ELC/Bridge contracts we will have with our young players in the next 2-5 years.

Ehlers could become a star if used properly the dude is under utilized a la Vrana. Would be a solid pickup

I agree. The Habs need the talent and he’d be a lot cheaper than Laine to acquire and his cap hit will remain much less (Laine probably signs for $8m+).

I wonder if Drouin/Ehlers could recreate that Mooseheads magic.
