Proposal: Trade Saros + for a shot at Connor Bedard?

GMDP has done a really great job of atoning for his recent failures by setting Trotz up with 16 picks in the first three rounds of the next 3 drafts:
2023:
1st = 2
2nd = 2
3rd =3
2024:
1st = 1
2nd =3
3rd =1
2025:
1st = 2
2nd = 1
3rd =1

With Askarov looking like a future star, would you try to come up with an offer around Saros and some of these pics to the team that wins the draft lottery for a shot at Bedard? Would any of the potential lottery teams be interested? We could keep Lankinen with Askarov as backup for a couple seasons, or find a different #1 or backup to let Asky have another full season in the AHL while Bedard takes a season or two to be fully NHL ready. By 2025 or 2026 we have a fully NHL ready Askarov in front of the net and our first legit generational talent at forward.

Saros is good, but would you give up Bedard for a goalie of his age? Remember, you'd be running a lottery team.

for me, top 4 is everything. No one is going to make a move for Beddard. But what about the other 3? Either way, Enjoy the season. Make the playoffs team makes money, miss the playoffs better pick. chill

Teams don't trade Top 5 draft picks. Like it literally hasn't happened since 2008. Maybe this is the year but is seems unlikely in a draft that is supposed to have so many game changing players.

Yes, but to beat the dead horse some more...no one is trading the Bedard pick

I have heard the suggestion of trading Saros for a top-10 pick before. But I have never heard of the version that happens AFTER the team has actually won the Bedard lottery. That's a new one. :skeptic:

The only way I can see it:

A) Winning team needs a complete system make over. Top to bottom, then Nashville runs them over with pick selection.

or

B) The winning team thinks they are a goalie away, not a center.

OR

C) Beddard pulls a Lindros.

The odds are microscopic. Less than being the last pick in the lotto

Saros is great, but yea, if we had that option to automatically be the 1st overall pick. I'd take that trade and just hope Askarov becomes what we want from him. Finding a goalie is easier than finding a player like Bedard in FA or in a trade.
