How about Karlsson to the NYR for Filip Chytil, Neal Pionk, 1st Rnd pick (9th OA), 2nd Rnd Pick (39th OA), and 2019 2nd Rnd Pick? Not enough... too much?

The Rangers would still have two first rounders and a second this year.

Any deal with the Rangers starts with Andersson.

I wouldn't do it personally. Other teams should be able to beat that. Not sold on Chytil and he's the main piece.

There's talk about a couple of sens players but unfortunately it's mostly about Karlsson . Other GM' s are currently pushing hard because they want to use 2018 draft ammo.

I don't think Karlsson goes until post July 1st i think. Melnyk and the organization want to limit damage control and want to keep their "promise" of offering EK a deal.

But boy, there is a lot of talk.

I think at this point, I'd be ok with a top 6 pick + in return for EK, that we way can ditch our 4OA and have a glimmer of hope next year.

If a trade has to be made, Carolina seems like the best potential partner from Ottawa's POV.

• 2nd overall pick
• High-potential young defensemen that could be included (Hanifin, Pesce, Bean)
• Young, cheap forward assets that could step into our top 6 next year (Teravainen, Lindholm)

The best case scenario for use would be:

Karlsson for 2nd overall, Hanifin and Lindholm.

You could then take Svechnikov at 2, Dobson/Bouchard/Hughes at 4 and go build around a young core of:

Duchene, Stone, Chabot, Svechnikov, Hanifin, Dobson, Lindholm, White, etc.

Unfortunately, I don't think that's realistic from Carolina's end.

Roll this in 2 years time.

Definitely. Imagine grabbing Svech and Zadina/Top D Prospect. Then you have Skinner on top of that. Oh, and we have a pick in the 1st next year.
