LeBrun put out an article on The Athletic with the following proposals, claiming these make a lot of sense. Discuss as you please.

2) CGY gets: Tyler Toffoli (30% retained)
LAK gets: Adam Ruzicka, 2020 2nd, conditional 2021 4th
(condition: pick only dealt if Toffoli resigns with Flames)

3) NYI gets: Jean-Gabriel Pageau, Ron Hainsey
OTT gets: Kieffer Bellows, conditional 2020 2nd, conditional 2021 3rd
(conditions: 2020 2nd becomes 1st if Isles make round 2 and Pageau plays 50% of games, 2021 3rd becomes 2nd if Pageau re-signs)

4) CAR gets: Sami Vatanen (30% retained)
NJD gets: 2020 2nd

5) BOS gets: Ondrej Kase
ANA gets: Oskar Steen, 2020 3rd

6) COL gets: Alec Martinez

I don't see the Avs being interested in Martinez. It does not really fit with their personnel decisions that last few seasons.

1) That's a lot of value for #20. Can't deny that. I still think the Rangers should keep Kreider. Especially with some chatter he will do the hometown discount to stay. His chemistry with Zbad. His speed. His Size. All huge factors here. NYR have tradable players then can stay under cap. In a year from now, put Kakko up on the RW.

Whether you think Vats is worth more than a 2nd or not, if a 2nd was the only thing on the table, I would start talking contract extension right away.

These all seem a TAD low (favors buyer) except the Kreider trade.
my reaction as well

There are more buyers then sellers rights now and so teams are holding out for more then that is being offered. I think the players in 2 and 3 get traded in trades where a conditional first is involved

I agree. I think Lebrun is basing the high price off of the reported interest in Kreider. It would be one or the other, not both.
Yeah, if Kreider is the #1 rental based on league interest, then I could maybe see a team giving up something crazy, I just don't see it being the Blues. Rental market can be crazy where some teams pay a ransom for no reason and other teams find great deals.

Pageau should get a better offer than that, Bellows is not that good, almost 4 years post draft, still not making the NHL, showing ok stats but nothing fantastic in the AHL. It's like a meh prospect + a 2nd which can become a very late first...

I don't see why Sakic wouldn't beat that Kase offer if given the chance. Ondrej's got speed to kill and would fit the Avs like a glove.

I mean it’s nice to want something but that doesn’t mean it’s going to happen. Lebrun spoke last week about how NHL executives think the Senators will struggle to get a 1st for Pageau. Perhaps they really will get a first but if not a 2nd that can possibly turn into a 1st is the next best thing.

Elliot Friedman said it's a bit of a buyer's market right now actually. I can see his logic too, the Hall trade is not working out so far, this year's draft looks strong, teams are dealing with cap space issues and while there's not a lot of great players available there's a lot of good ones.
