So would you guys have been ok with that return for Domi? (1st rounder, Hallander, etc etc)

Screw Gaudreau, he's a no show in the POs anyways. Trade Domi + Tatar for picks and prospects like Poulin that are young and NHL ready. Use the Kapanen trade as a baseline and get a ransom in exchange.

What a shame Danault doesn't want to stay 3rd C. He's an elite 3rd centerman, our team would be stacked at C with him.
But NOOOO it's too good to be true.
Oh, I can just see MB screwing this up royally. Trades Domi for something other than a center and then loses malcontent a Danault through trade or UFA. And then an embarrassment of riches at center turns into where can we get a center.

No, a 15th pick dosen’t assure you anything. There is a big chance that the player you draft at 15 will never be as good as Domi and Hallander is all but a sure thing. He’s a good prospect but we wouldn’t be in our top 5 ( and I don’t even know if he would be top 10). We need a player that can have an immediate impact for Domi

That doesn’t change anything, he doesn’t choose where he play and it’s normal that a player prefer to play top line minutes with the best players then on a defensive 3rd line.
He didn't say he prefers. He said it would influence his decision of re-signing with the Habs.

Domi and Danault dosen’t have the same role. Danault is a great fit on a 3rd line who can play all the big defensive minutes and let KK/Suzuki with the offensive mission. Domi can’t do that

If he wants to win a cup in his lifetime, he needs to accept his role as a 3rd C.
If he wants more money and TOI, then he can bitch all he wants but no one is winning anything with him as a 1C.
The only thing it changes for us is that he won't resign or we trade him and let Evans/Poehling slot in at 3rd.

Which I wouldn't mind.

No, that's not enough for Domi. Leafs made that move cause they have RW depth and need cap space. It's very probable the Pens offered that for Domi and Bergevin said no thank you
