That's what I'm thinking, but most people here seem to hate the idea? He did put up 40 points in 48 games last year. Rather this contract than Simmonds' I think.

I mean, you’re both right, it wouldn’t be a big deal. I just have $6M in my mind as the max I’m comfortable with, no logic behind it, admittedly.

Not a great contract, but very few of them are in free agency. I like the player and the more I've thought about it the more I like the fit, so hopefully it works out alright. And it helps that Simmonds may well have been the backup plan.

Still curious to see if a Zucker trade materializes as everyone pairs up over the next few hours here.

I have no idea what direction Fenton is going with this club. With that in mind, how much of a factor do you think Kaprizov played in the decision to not go full rebuild? Yes, the owner wants to fill the seats. But the possibility of overpaying for free agents tomorrow (who aren't big upgrades) and trying to tread water and win now makes me think asking Kaprizov to come over here, when doing a complete overhaul, wasn't an option.
