People on the trade boards are saying toronto needs a top 6 winger. With the uncertainty of the ED and if we will protect dumba, With his strong start to the season Im thinking we might be able to get a decent haul from Greenway vs exposing him. What would you think a good ask would be from toronto if we decided we are going 4-4? clearly a center would be ideal.

Shane Pinto is intriguing. Right hand shot and could help on PP. He’d prob cost a lot however.
Is he being shopped? Seems odd a rebuilding team would want to trade a 20 year old.

A 1st and their best center/RW prospect. If their prospect pool is weak another draft pick added.

I can't see exposing Greenway if he continues to play as well as he has. What's the point of trading Greenway for a later 1st rounder, or Amirov, or Robertson, when Greenway is precisely what you want a prospect to turn into, a NHL player, and potentially an impact NHL player?

Maybe, in a perfect world you trade a resurgent Dumba and Greenway for Nylander with maybe a small +, depending on how all the principals involved in the deal are playing at the time. Greenway would have to be playing at a .7 PPG pace, Dumba at a .5 PPG, etc.. I'm still not in love with Nylander, and am not sure if his game will survive if he is moved to Center.

Overall, I am very lukewarm on the idea of moving Greenway. He is not an elite first liner or anything, and never will be, but he is the epitome of a quality young support player that any successful team needs if he continues to play as well as he has shown so far this season. I don't see trading him for a maybe.

I would love to keep Greenway, but moving him will be easier than moving Dumba. With the E.D. forwards are easier to protect than D. In a perfect world I think moving Dumba is best, but 14 day quarantine makes him going north a little less likely. Outside of Tor, I don't know many teams that both need a RHD and have a spot on their protection list for him. Most teams like Philly fans have said, wait till after the E.D.

Im looking at it from a "we are going to lose one of them unless we make a trade, this is an option to not lose them for nothing" kinda view. losing soucy doesnt bug me so that means we need to trade one of the two to make sure soucy is picked. I will say, the nylander for dumba and greenway idea mentioned above does have some appeal to me

We are a team that is still desperate for forward talent, and are relatively well stocked at D. We are only 11 gp in, so I reserve the right to change my mind on this, but I think that Greenway is more valuable than Dumba is to this team, especially once you consider contracts. Greenway makes 1/3rd of what Dumba does...that's a lot! An extra 4M sure would add flexibility to Guerin's ability to re-sign, sign, or acquire players.

More reason to shop him for forward talent not just a center. I get the need for a center but an offensive right shot winger would still be a plus.

Here we go again.

Look...Zuccarello isn't going anywhere, and he won't waive his clause. He would not return to the Rangers anyway, bridges burnt there. One of the reasons he settled down in MN was to find some peace and quiet...tired of NYC.

So sad that some fans have so little knowledge about Mats as a player. He is one of the best forwards on this team, when he returns he can help players like Fiala and Kaprizov to become more effective. And as a power play specialist he can certainly help the team there as well.

You really don't want to lose him if you want to win games, give Mats a chance as a healthy player.

I actually like him as a player, and was happy we signed him. My only complaint is the NMC but it’s not something I hold against him, it’s mostly related to the expansion draft. I think I would be far less upset if Guerin was able to swing that Parise deal last year (to clear out his NMC).

I think most fans are right we go 7-3 which means Dumba goes, I’m resigned to that fact at this point.

Propose 2 different trades for Eichel. One under the assumption that the Sabres would like win-now peices back, and another under the assumption that they’re going to start the rebuild over. Again.

Win-now: Fiala/Kaprizov + Dumba + 1st

Futures: Dumba + Boldy + MIN 2021 1st + Pitt 2021 1st

Going off of the futures deal, 2 years from now:

Zuccarello-Eichel-Fiala
Greenway-Rossi-Kaprizov
xxx-Ek-xxx
Foligno-Sturm-xxx
Parise

Suter-Spurgeon
Brodin-Addison
O'Rourke-Menell
xxx

Talbot/Kahk/Jones

does somebody smarter than me want to estimate how much $$ we'd have to fill in the blanks?

Ok, these. Buff would be stupid to not have a deal with a C coming back, and we would be stupid to balk at including one of JEE or Rossi, though.

Win now- Fiala/Kap + Dumba + 1st/ JEE + Bonino(cap and win now)

Future- Dumba + Rossi + MIN 2021 1st + Bonino(cap)

If we give up Rossi, I take it then we are counting on 2C being Marat/khov/Pitt pick for the future? Or possible FA? (Not sure how the quote included the post in my post)

If we have Eichel, then we figure out the rest later. JEE would be ok as a 2C, for now.
A top 6 that includes Fiala, Kap, Eichel, Boldy, JEE, Greenway/Beckman is a nice starting point, compared to what we have now.

I do think that we overvalue Rossi, because all our hopes are built on him being a top C. Other teams will se him as a good prospect, nothing more. BUFF drafted Quinn ahead of him, so that tells you what they think of him.
