Carolina has had this problem since Eric started to decline. They don't have a true #1 C. We hoped that Rask could develop into one, he hasn't. We hoped Jordan Staal could produce more offense so he could be a #1 C, he hasn't. With the Galchenyuk situation going on in Montreal. We could get him for cheaper then he is worth. Should we make this move?

Galchenyuk isn't going to be that 1C either. Realistically, the Canes will have to move forward and try to win without a prime E. Staal equivalent (a franchise center.) Our best hope is that Aho or Necas develop into a low end 1C/high end 2C, or a fair trade for an equivalent opens up at some point.

I still like Galchenyuk, though. If the cost were TT(+) or even Bean(+), go for it. If the cost were Hanifin, which is who I expect Montreal would want at this point, stay away.

IF were to acquire Galchenyuk we'd still be looking for that #1C, just sayin. Guy has talent but it seems like he's not best suited for a #1C role or even a C role honestly.

This. It's not like Montreal is overflowing at C right now. So if Galchenyuk isn't a C at all in Montreal, it seems doubtful he's a 1C solution for Carolina.

TT plus or Bean plus for Galchenyuk is F-ing insane.

Really?

Galchenyuk put up 30 goals 2 seasons ago and scored at a ~59 point pace last season. Even if a change of scenery doesn’t unlock his potential in the middle (a la Seguin), he still has value as a point producing winger and an actual threat to score on the PP.

Giving up Teravainen with a reasonable plus is a no-brainer. I'd be less excited about giving up Bean, but I'd still say go for it.

Aho - Staal - Lindholm
Galchenyuk - Rask - Williams
Skinner - Ryan - Kuokkanen/Necas (Stempniak)
