I really doubt that. For a variety of reasons. Objectively speaking, any of the Flames top prospects by themselves would have trumped what the Sabres got back for Kane. But even if you think none of them are worth that much, the 2019 first without any conditions by itself is better. Then some combination of any of the above, etc.; it's pretty clear Treliving had the assets to get a deal done if he thought it absolutely necessary. So it's obvious he didn't because we know he was trying.We dont know that...maybe he offered and nobody wanted them
And the only valid complaint here is why did the Treliving go all in on another defenceman, albeit a solid one in Hamonic when it's arguable the bigger need was upfront. If Gulutzan wasn't so obsessed with handedness, maybe they could have moved Brodie over to the right side and then brought in another LHD defenceman for considerably less than what they have up for Hamonic. That way they'd have their first, this year or next, maybe another second rounder to play with.
