Do you not wonder how the team deals with this?

Does this not impact the team business?

No matter who you ask, there are always players that will say they don't want to play in city XYZ. That's fine, yet city XYZ will still get the players that want to play there. As well, it goes in cycles. Ask any player in the NHL in the 80s who they would want to play for and I'm sure EDM was at the top of the list.

Couldn't read the whole article but yeah. Obviously most players won't want to go to the worst team in the league. A citiy's liveability is secondary to the team's ability to win. No offence to Detroitians but that city is a cesspool, yet has no problem attracting players cause the Wings win consistantly. If Edmonton, Ottawa or anywhere else was a consistant winner players would want to play there.

cheswick - many/most of the players don't live in Detroit city proper, but in neighboring cities.

(San Jose has a few players renting apartments in downtown SJ, but the majority are in more family-friendly neighborhoods, and adjoining/nearby cities.)

I think these polls are horrible. The league would never endorse a poll between the 30 GM's on what players would be least desireable on your team... or what players are way overpaid.

Nabakov made it known where he thought it wouldn't be desireable to play.... well at least he can work on his golf game.

At least 20 players have said they won't play EDM from the looks of this.

Isn't that to be expected? They're a perennial cellar-dweller, Canada's version of the Islanders. And I'm confident about as many players with the option are refusing to play for the Islanders, too.

Oh, they are. The isles have apparently offered big money to a bunch of high profile FAs who wound up signing for less elsewhere.

Edmonton is going to be a powerhouse in a few years, unfortunately so players are not as patient as others. Not to mention the pressure playing for a Canadian team is greater than playing for a team that is still growing a fan base.

What editor even let this get written with only 20 players asked. Imagine if other polls were treated like espn. According to 8 albertans the Liberals are the party no one wants to vote for
