Content with the Thompson move. Doesn't really make much of a difference. Probably a slight upgrade over Bunnaman but mainly insurance for one of those two getting hurt or falling off a cliff and not having to rely on Misha to come up and get killed on a nightly basis.

A 5th to make sure we have a solid enough 4C is fine with me. Obviously would have loved a guy like JGP but that was a massive overpay by the Islanders, IMO.

If Thompson is better than Bunny on faceoffs and can PK, I’m completely ok with this trade, it’s a 5th rounder, it’s not like we overpaid for an over the hill vet like the Pens

It's not an if. Thompson is at 55% with over 60% of his ozone starts in the defensive zone. He's chipped in 14 points in 63 games.

Bunnaman is at a horrendous 37.5% on the dot with 49% dzone starts.

Thompson is pretty well appreciated around the league as a 4th liner. He's fast, smart, strong on the boards, good on draws, annoys the opposition, and has a high motor.

He'll add to the personality the team is cultivating.
Exactly. A good depth C. 55% on FOs. Strong, hits, agitator. Already has his playoff beard. Perfect acquisition in case Patrick doesn't make it back to 3C to push Laughton to 4C.
