Like the title says. Which players you have been impressed and to the contrary, who maybe has not been as good so far as they should? Yes the tournament is still just starting to get truly going, but it is possible to pick the early picks already :D

Lafreniere was looking like the best player at the tournament before his injury.

Zegras, Podkolzin, Romanov, Seider, and Stutzle jump to mind as other players who I’ve been impressed with. Bahl was really good the first game but piss poor the second game like the entire team.

Byfield to me has been a bit of disappointment. Caufield has been completely invisible as well.

I’ve been following group B closer than group A.

I have not seen a game from group B and only I have seen the team Finland games.

Standouts: Höglander, Maccelli, Fagemo, Söderström, Tanus, Räty's, Oden, Puistola.. From highlights and scoring, Zegras ofc

I am very disappointed by the headbutts in this tournament, soccer is way more physical than hockey

Seider showing that pre draft rankings don’t mean a whole lot. He’s not looking like so much of a stretch now

I was curious to see how Podkolzin would look this tourney since he has bounced around the Russian leagues so much this year with mixed results. I haven't been disappointed at all after watching him for a couple of games. He has strength, skill and tenacity that will suit him well in the NHL. He plays a unique style so he may take a little while to find the right combination of players that suit his game. (He also seems to be figuring out what his game will be. Sometimes he plays like a dangler, sometimes like a power forward) Very excited to see how he does the rest of the tournament!

One point in three games with lots of playing time and power play time. I wouldn’t say he’s been terrible, but definitely not reaching expectations.
I hate stat watchers, Pod has been very good, He set up so many scoring chances, not his fault the team can't finish.
Type his name on twitter, look at the reaction, it's been mostly positive.

Most impressive - Lafreniere
Most disappointing - caufield so far

Bokk has really solidified his status as a prospect with a great performance so far after really struggling in his home club.

With Rögle he usually plays 11-12 minutes per game, I'm sure he has really looked forward to being a major part of the German team and help them stay in the top division.

Well, our goalie, Justus Annunen has been great - basically the biggest reason why I think we have a chance in this tournament even with underwhelming coaching and so far rather undisciplined play.

It's a lot easier for a young player to stand out on a team like Germany compared to the better teams. I'm sure Byfield would look great too with 19 min/game and top unit PP time. People are going to disagree with me but I haven't been super impressed with Seider, he's a worse skater than I expected and he's mainly noticeable because of the minutes he's logging rather than his actual play.

Don't think there's been any big positive/negative surprises among the Swedish players so far. Berggren and Höglander stand out with the puck but I have a strong feeling they will be kept to the outside too often against the better teams. Söderström has been the best Swedish player so far I'd say.

Stat watcher? Don’t get confused because my name is Statsy! ;)

Podkolzin is a Vancouver pick and I live in Vancouver. He’s pretty much my favourite player in this tournament, so I think I’ve watched him a lot closer than you! I know exactly what he has and hasn’t done. Thanks for your input though. :shakehead
