Everyone except Pens fans hate him and Ulf. Shocker to see only fans of the teams Ulf/Cooke been on thinking they are tough in anyway.

If you don't think the Pens of today are tough, physical, team to play against, then you're an idiot

edit: if you're talking strictly about cooke, he cheap-shotted savard. i know this. he owned up to it by fighting. he's a relentless forechecker who throws his body at anybody. that's toughness in my book. if he played for another team i'd probably not like him because of his antics. just like i dont like steve downie, carcillo, etc.

I loved the early 90's Blackhawks.

I know they were not the toughest team ever but they had quite a few tough guys.

Mike Peluso
Stu Grimson
Chris Chelios
Steve Smith
Bryan Marchment
Cam Russell

Don't forget Prince Albert's pride and joy Davey Manson

The Bruins pound for pound are the toughest team in the league, many may disagree (even their own fans) because they tend to play disciplined, but pound for pound there isnt a team in the league that can stand up to all of our guys and beat us down

Lucic
Chara
Thornton
Campbell (who's recently become a much better with thornton's help, and he's a tough ******* either way)
Horton
Ference
Stuart
Mcquaid
Boychuck

Hell, even bergeron can throw em, so can rex, and krejci cut up cammalleri's head earlier this season

the only team that comes close would be Pittsburgh, a line brawl would be pretty interesting to watch.

The Broad St. Bullies and Don Cherry's big bad Bruins. Being a Canucks fan, the team was tough back in the early '80's: Stan Smyl, Tiger Williams, Curt Fraser, Garth Butcher, Ron Delorme, Harold Snepsts, Jim Nill and others.

2010-2011 Stars! Oh wait.

Was gonna say the same thing. Then I read the thread, so I'm going with the 1982 New York Islanders, to include:

Brent Sutter
Duane Sutter
Denis Potvin
Billy Smith
Gord Lane
Bob Nystrom

No doubt about it, the 2011 Bruins are the toughest SOB's in the league. I mean the way they beat the hell out of Hamrlik, Spacek and Pyatt last night was something to behold. All hail the Bruins warriors.

The Don Cherry bruins had a few cheap shot specialists too, but since they're your team they're OK, right?

I think his issue was not with the inclusion of a cheap shot or two, but with the insinuation that Ulf was somehow "tough" -- which he most certainly was not, any more than Claude Lemieux was tough.

The Broad Street Bullies (74-75 & 75-76) team is the face of the Flyer's franchise but I think the Baby Bullies (86-87) was the toughest Flyer's team.

Dave Brown
Rick Tocchett
Glen Cochrane
Ed Hospador
Brad McCrimmon
Rich & Ron Sutter

Don't leave out Scott Mellanby. He played so long that people forget about how he played in the beginning of his career. He was a beast.

Maybe not the toughest of all time, especially taking into account the size difference between today and the 70's but the 78-79 Bruins had;

O'Reilly
Secord
Jonathan
Wensink
Cashman
Milbury
O'Brien
Schmautz

I don't know about the toughest team, but the Bruins can handle themselves....All hail the Bruin Warriors and the gutless *****es (Montreal Canadiens!)

Don't forget Berube. He was a tough dude.

I think the wings in the 80s should be thrown into the equation because of Kocur and Probert.

Also the Islanders int he 80s.

Blues in the 90s.

Not the toughest by any means, but the Canucks got pretty greasy in the late 90s. In 97-98 they had the following players suit up for them:

Donald Brashear
Gino Odjick
Brad May
Enrico Ciccone
Dave Scatchard
Scott Walker
Chris McAllister
Jamie Huscroft

Actually that may be top 3.

Brash, Odjick, McAllister and Chico were all legit heavies. Most teams don't have guys that good in their lineup over a 3-5 year period, never mind at the same time.

They weren't all anywhere near being regulars, though. But add in guys like Walker, May, etc. and that's pretty much guaranteed to be a pretty scary lineup on any given night.
