Andersen - he's been out too long to come back and start for us in the playoffs. Plus we've seen this movie before. If he can come back and play a back-up role - great
Campbell - he'll bounce back
Rittich - I'd give the guy a bit of a break coming over from a new team, basically starting the next day..... we know he can be solid

They should fire the Goaltending coach pronto. His success rate is on par with a weather forcaster.

I have often thought that Briere or whatever his name is..seems like goalies "Unlearn" what good things they were taught. We changed so many assistants over the years...yet he keeps his job for some reason.

How's Ian Scott looking?

None of the Marlies' goalies are looking particularly great right now, but that is not entirely their fault.

The Marlies' defense has been a garbage fire pretty much the first day that Woll laced up for them.

He's only been around since 2015-2016, which is when the purge happened. Andersen had some amazing seasons in there, and even Campbell has done well.

Just for whatever reason, once our defense is playing well, the goalies do not (or if they do, they are winning like Campbell was winning).

Freddy has been the answer?
He was all that held that team together for a 3 year span. Playoffs last year he was lights out and still lost. No way i put it all on Andersen just because he was terrible this year playing injured trying to get us through to Campbell making it back.
The team played him injured and he agreed to do it even in a contract year. There is loyalty in there and i see it. He faced more rubber than the 401 for every year except this one as a Leaf. Lol then he dumps. Sports are nuts

I don't trust any of them so I'd go with the guy playing the best at the time

Winner winner chicken dinner.

I would reverse the list, but 100% yes.

Yes. Yes. Yes.

LMAO yes, Hutch in game 4 instead of game 1 does make a lot more sense.

Man oh man can you imagine, down 3-0 and starting Hutch in game 4. Not enough beer in the world for that one, good thing scotch whiskey exists.

I don't see how it's not Andersen.

He was clearly playing hurt and playing terrible while Campbell was out. But they'll give him more than enough time now to be back to %100. When he's healthy he's our best chance to win a game.

Think I might be one of the very few not concerned about the Leafs' goaltending situation, anyone else?

This is very much what I'm thinking but just because Andersen choked in the past doesn't mean he'll be a career playoff choker, lots of goalies have gone through similar things. He's capable of playing well for them but as of now he hasn't given fans a reason to trust/believe in him so it's a good thing they have Campbell if Andersen can't be hot, but maybe he can, it's kind of a similar situation to the Fleury-Murray, Holtby-Grubauer cup runs. I mean hell they even have Rittich who they know is capable of stealing the show the odd time, I guess he did yesterday but in the wrong way; he's still adjusting to playing for the Leafs & not against them :sarcasm:

I believe in Jack Campbell

Fire that guy. He’s done nothing but destroy every goalie we’ve ever gotten. Andersen has gotten incrementally worse for two years and has fixed none of his deficiencies. Campbell is now crumbling. It’s not working good. I liked the guy before him that was the butterfly specialist. I forget his name now. They should keep him away from our goalies. This is not the first time after all. Last 2 years this coach has deflated our goalies by looks of it. Hutchinson went to Colarado is why he recovered.

I think the big difference is Campbell has 1 games above .900 over that stretch and it was the furthest away. Grubauer has 2 below that mark and is largely brought down by a 7 GA performance

I don't think they will do that at this point in the season, but I do think they will overhaul the entire department in the summer/fall it's a deficiency they've had for a very long time

I say: Go Campbell game 1, if he falters at all, give him game 2, if it happens again, go Andersen

If only it wasn't the case that we could look up career stats for Campbell and Grubauer which renders the above "analysis" laughably useless.

Andersen should be the starter, if Campbell was still on a hot streak it would be different but he’s cooled down.

One has played almost three times the NHL games of the other. Meaningless comparison.

Quote from Keefe.

I'm concerned about our goaltending, obviously," head coach Sheldon Keefe said post-game. "We've got to get that sorted out, but I'm not concerned about our team. I believe in our group and we played well enough to win here tonight, played well enough to win the other night (against Vancouver). We gotta get better goaltending."
