I'm on the fence (or boards) regarding the team name. I get the multiple cultural references, but my first impression was that it represented 6 players on the ice at a time, and that could be seen as a slight to the rest of the roster. Not intentional but a possible negative connotation.

As for the logo, I find it more clever than attractive. Is the maple leaf asymmetric to avoid trademark conflicts with the Maple Leafs or maybe the Canadian government with the national flag? And the colors are far more evocative to me of Ottawa hockey than Toronto hockey.

In the end, the organization has to attract fans from their region. I hope the new branding helps then do that.

Yeah, it does kind of remind me of the Senators, but I'm waiting for the jersey reveal to make my verdict.

Senators colors won't go over well in Toronto, aka T-Dot, aka "The 6ix"

Old Toronto was never a borough, there were only ever five

Terrible name and logo

I might go to one game, but only to compare this team to what we had with the Furies

Now get off my lawn so I can get back to yelling at the clouds

The local reference doesn't resonate for me, but when I saw "Toronto Six" the first thing that came to mind was the newspaper convention calling a hockey team a "six", a baseball team a "nine", a football team an "eleven", etc.

Just one example, but this was common everyday parlance in newspapers for several generations:
