The Drafted --> AHL deal ----> ELC contract route is not a very common path for prospects to take at least not ones that management sees with NHL potential.

This is basically a "prove it" make or bust year for him, and its either a ELC or a Goodbye the following year.

He is just one of those undersized players Hunter drafted in his 1st year on the job and now the organization is loaded with this type and level of prospect has in abundance and so NHL contracts handed out to more diversity of prospect/player.

It's probably going to become more common now though, at least here. You have to be really special (and likely get bonuses) to get one here now. Unless we are starving for good prospects, but if they keep up the pool like they are now, I doubt you have to worry about that too much.

My point was if your draft picks are only worth AHL deals and not worthy of ELC deals based on their draft years +2 like Dzierkals and Korostelev then how good and how much potential do those picks have?

It seems like a make or break year in the AHL, and having to earn your 3 year ELC based on performance. That is different then Brooks or Bracco etc that earned theirs based on CHL performance (the usual route for promising prospects worthy of investment.

Always funny when an attempted spin reaches right around and stabs itself in the back.

-> we drafted too many little guys, all the same little guys, no different. this was inherently bad

-> this guy in particular is an example of why drafting little guys is bad, he can't be good because we didn't sign him, look at these better guys we did sign (guys of the "same type and level", said little guys)

The sum of that which can be inferred from this signing
-the team holds Bracco in higher esteem -same draft, same signing window, one has a contract
-the team want's him developing within their organization despite limited roster spots

They moved back four spots to get an extra pick, which they used on Dzeirkals, because they could get the guy they wanted anyway.

"Traded out of the first round for him" is completely misleading.

It's not when you remember that Mess' goal here is to yet again complain about how the Leafs could have had Konecny...

Those 28 points will be missed for 3 prospects that could end up being better.

Most of which came in that early period where teams haven't started to narrow down if you're worth paying attention to or not. When teams started to shut down his skating outlets, Konecny pulled a 50 game disappearing act, followed by an insanely underwhelming performance at the World Championships...
