Not sure if you know this but additional years will be based in higher of HFNHL or NHL Salary. So Smith and Gudas will be demanding their HFNHL Salary.

I was going off this in the rule book:

"Simply reference the particular player’s salary from one of the various contract recording sites out there (e.g. www.generalfanager.com) and match the term and salary to what they will be making starting in the 15/16 season and for the length of their remaining NHL deal, and the player will automatically re-sign."

To my knowledge this is if the player has signed an NHL deal and if the deal is more or the same as his current HFNHL deal. I believe Hasnain is right.
