Whats even worse is their young ELCs are almost up with so theyll need a slight re-tool of contracts in the next year or two before they fuel up for another run

Ya... You would have to be comfortably in your 20s to have any meaningful memory of the Leafs winning a playoff series.

For the past quarter century, when it comes to "big league" success, Toronto has been a pretty barren hellscape. Outside of the Leafs making a couple of conference finals around the turn of the millennium, and 3-4 years ago when the Jays strung together a couple of good season and the Raptors made a conference final, there hasn't been a lot to get excited about around here.

Florida hasn't won a playoff series since 1996. They've only made the playoffs four times since then. And people wonder why we rarely have a full stadium.

Well, that and the fact they don't have many hockey fans - and judging by attendance in other sports, not many sports fans in general.

You forgot the Argos. Hahaha... just kidding - no one cares whether they win or lose.. it's the CFL after all.

Yeah, it's gonna be tough next season. When Marner gets his big deal and slight raises to Kapanen and Johnnson, they are going to be over the cap (even taking into account Horton on LTIR). They are already down Gardiner next season and will have to make another move or two (trade Brown, Hyman, Kapanen, Johnsson, Kadri, or buyout Marleau?) to get under the cap. It's going to be tight and their roster (on paper) will be worse than it was this season.

Pretty embarassing.

Especially since both teams have had some fairly decent teams, or especially - players, in the cap era. They wouldn't be the 2 teams i associate as the last place in the cap era.

But the fact we get to share some of our our misery with Toronto is a little less painful.

Yeah it's funny to hear Toronto writers who can't stop talking about how mcdavid should leave Edmonton.

No finals even since there were six teams. In the 21st century Sens, Canucks oilers and flames have been to the final .... Some even game 7.

No President Trophy/equivalent or runner-up finishes either for Toronto since 1967.

I wonder how many NHL teams can match that level of total mediocrity? 52 years of zero success at winning in both the regular and post-seasons.
