    Toronto receives:
    Patrick Kane (3.5 million retained)

    Chicago receives:
    William Nylander
    2nd round pick

What do people think of making this swap from both sides? I think Toronto would need to add abit but the premise of the trade is between Kane and Nylander.

CHI says NO. To get Kane, add Amirov, Sandin, a 1st, I think this starts making more sense, oh and add to that for the retention :D

Easy no from hawks. Nylander value isn't what you think it is. Even if it was, it's not even in the ballpark

Thats 10 millions of retention (in cap space).
Chicago would basicly be using Nylander 10m worth of cap space for the next 3 years, instead of Kane 9,5 millions.
Not to mention they would be spending millions more actual money aswell.

Why? For a second round pick?

So they are swapping Kane for Nylander and spending few millions to buy a late second?

Leafs don't need to do this.
    So pass.

Also, Chicago easily passes on this.
    They can easily do better.

    No

Leafs and hawks arent doing a kane deal. We’ve been down this road.

And I’m not sure Kane would approve anyway.

While Chicago gets molested in this proposal the biggest problem is you fail to explain why Kane would approve.
He didn’t grow up there, didn’t have any Leaf bedsheets or jammies. Nor is he chasing a cup he failed to actually lead a team to.
Kane doesn’t even go to Buffalo anymore. Family visits him in Chicago.

    So then WHY?

Patrick Kane will either retire with the Blackhawks or play one year with another team in his late 30s/early 40s. He's probably going to follow the Martin St. Louis aging curve.

Kane is going nowhere, lock 'er up.

This is a unique and original proposal. Chicago would have to mull it over first, again, having never heard this proposal before, but I don't think they do this.

That’s to much for Kane imo. Would rather move Mathews then that package and Imo Mathews>>>Kane due to age and position

While I don't like the trade for either side, you must be delusional if you think Kane gets that kind of return.

Are we speaking about the same guy ? Kane who is coring at more than a PPG without an elite center, who scored at a 1.2 PPG last year, who scored 110 two seasons ago ?

sandin and amirov are good prospects, not top prospects. I think you don t get it for Nylander and a 1st let alone Nylander without it

Kane 3.5 retained and deHaan 1.5 retained for Nylander, Amirov, Sandin and a 1st.

Leafs do that and the only question if if the 1st is 30th or 31st.
Chicago likely flips them all at some point. Nylander is neither a star nor a hard worker.
Sandin wouldn’t be top 5 among Dmen prospects in Chicago. With the great euro scouting in Chicago Amirov doesn’t make the top 6 and he’s not a bottom 6 type.

Are the Leafs a Patrick Kane way from winning the cup? I think no. Kane is an elite winger but if Toronto is parting with Nylander, Sandin, Amirov and their 1st it should be to upgrade their blueline.

That trade offer only helps one team.

    Nylander + 1st
    For Kane ($0 retention)

then maybe Chicago starts to listen. Probably still have to add a decent prospect. The you would need Kane to waive.

Kane at 32 is still a top 5 winger in the game.

I agree and posted as much earlier in the thread. However there are Leaf fans here who think Kane with retention would only cost Nylander and a pick. Chicago has a slew of young defenders so I tossed in deHaan who can play 20 minutes (2nd/3rd pair) and be responsible in his own end.
I might even see if he can cover Riellys ass.

Lol lock this up. We just went down this road and pretty much everyone agreed it wasn’t working... now we make another one but this time it’s way less value... in no way is a 2nd the difference between Kane and Nylander.

Thought groundhog day came and went.
I don't even think it would matter if the teams were interested because i doubt Kane would be.
