no. Hamilton has 1 year left and will look for 7-8 mil easily (or more)
a 24 year old who just broke out with 31g/59pts in 68 games and locked up long term at 6.9 is pretty valuable too, moreso than 80 games of a guy.
lack of term is a good thing? how do you figure? hamilton is gonna get at least 1.5-2.5 more on his next deal as a UFA and might just walk for nothing.
Canes say no easily
You start with Andersen to Carolina, good goalie, they need a goalie, makes $1M in salary, hey they're cash conscious and that's probably the best value dollars:results for this next season, now we're cooking with gas
And then you staple Hamilton and Nylander to it
Canes owner is Oprah rich. Well not Oprah rich but we aren’t a shoestring budget team anymore. Plus we already have a goalie in Reimer who is only owed 1 mil after his signing bonus was paid.
Please keep him out of Toronto
Yeah because that single poster represents the majority of the massive fan base. Never change kiddos.
No because Hamilton is a year away from UFA
Leafs say NO also!!!
Posts like this are daily things, just because you don't think you fall into that category doesn't make it any less common. Stop getting butt hurt for no reason
As a Ranger fan I wish the Canes would do this. They lose Hamilton and the ability to draft Askarov or another fine prospect like Mercer.
Cash conscious is not a denigration, nobody is making money right now and you just moved your AHL affiliate from your own backyard to Chicago, an objectively worse place to have it, because at least in part the Wolves can afford to take a greater share of the financial burden.
A ratio has two parts.
"Heh, Leafs fans r dum"
"Yeah well ur dum"
"Omg so butthurt what the heck"
To be fair, I never called them dumb. I just said to not change, I love refreshing this and CapFriendly and getting a good chuckle from the Leafs trade proposals. Even if most fans aren't brain-dead there is enough to make posts like this a common occurrence that it's amusing.
Well you have a whole year to sign him to an extension and this is probably the best time in recent memory to lock up a star player to a long term contract with the cap being stagnant for a couple of years. If you add couple of million to Hamilton you still get a top pairing 50+pt RHD in his 20's locked up to a long term deal at around 7.5-8M/yr. I suppose it would be Dubas negotiating that contract though so I see your concern.
You're dropping way too much flavor text to say "ignore my subtext" in the same post
spoken by a true fan. toronto doesn't even have an andersson on the roster.
Chicago is not a worse place for our affiliate.
We did it because:
A. Chicago has deeper pockets to support paying for AHL veterans that only have a small chance of being called up. That was going to be a large expense for us as we will have 6 prospects in the AHL until the European and Junior Leagues are done.
B. Most importantly, Chicago has better facilities for their players which is better for developing prospects.
C. A nice bonus, they wont require help from Dundon if the AHL goes without fans.
the location of Chicago versus Charlotte isn’t a big deal if we decide to carry extra players. If we tried to carry only 20 players then the idea of a flight to Raleigh versus a 3 hour drive is more expensive. If we have extra players, we wouldn’t need to call up players to be insurance for a day to day injury.
To say this deal makes sense because the Canes save real dollars in the trade is ludicrous. Dundon is making hard business decisions to save money everywhere but on the ice. He isn’t going to sell off two of his top assets to save 4 million dollars. That would contradict every other move he has made.
True, it is not a denigration, but there is literally no evidence that the Canes are operating in this way, and some evidence for the contrary. The Canes GM has already come out and said the team will be near the cap again next year. Sure, moves that bring in high cap, low cash players fit that. But then why move Reimer as is being suggested?
I've heard more whispers that the Habs will be looking to save cash than I have the Canes are.
This deal got flayed on the Leafs board.
Which team are you a fan of?
It getting flayed on the Leafs board didn't stop it from getting posted here. Even if it is just a small % of you that have no idea on player value posts like these are still daily
So then why not call out the posters and not the fan base?
Did I call you guys dumb? I said to never change, how you interpret that is up to you. I love threads like these because they are amusing so I don't want them to go away.
Would Nylander fit into how Brind'Amour expects his guys to play? Imo Nylander is a bad fit fir the Canes. And the Leafs need a D man who plays hard to play against defensively.
I didn't say you called us dumb.
If you are going to call out and mock a fanbase, don';t get so defensive when they come back and ask why. I get that those comments are great for farming "likes", but they are pretty damn annoying and almost always derail threads.
