Brutal game.

Lawrie and Bautista go down in a 4-3 loss.

That DL is looking horrid, could be the achilles heel of this team (again).

Things aren't looking good.

The injuries hurt more than the slump.

I lump them all together.
Is the Bautista injury serious?
Lawrie had been banged up the last couple of games...
So I think this is just another one of those instances.

Edit:
Lawrie has a broken finger.
He is probably out for a while now.

The Stro-show at it again!! What a game! wow. This kid is going to be special. 23-years old and he 3 hits the Yankees. Now 3-2 with a 2.54 ERA in 5 starts.

Pretty amazing stuff to sit here and say that Stroman is our 2nd best starter besides Buerhle and Stroman probably has the best "stuff" in the starting 5. Our farm system is going to be spitting out guys like this year in and year out with the way AA has been drafting.

Hoffman/Sean-Reid Foley/Sanchez (if he gets his control issues fixed)/Norris etc etc. We have so much pitching depth

Osuna has a chance to be real good as well.

Closest guy would be Sanchez but he's struggling with his control. Next young guys in line would be Sean Nolin, Kyle Drabek or maybe Deck McGuire. None of them look to be overly impressive. Most of their high ceiling arms are in the lower levels (aside from Sanchez), or haven't begun pro ball yet (Reid-Foley) or won't pitch this year (Hoffman).

They do need an upgrade in their rotation, but it will likely have to come from outside the organization in the short term.

Hoffman had Tommy John...
Along with being not signed yet...
Sean Reid-Foley just signed...
Sanchez's estimated arrival time is late 2015 at best...
But Norris...
With the season that he has so far...
May get a cup of time late this year.
That is not guaranteed though.

I also like Osuna...
But he had Tommy John surgery last year...
And he has not thrown yet...
Other than something like a catch session.

Nolin has ok numbers...
But based on my very short looks at him...
He may end up a long reliever though.

Drabek is still in that rediscovery phase after his second Tommy John surgery...
But he probably will not reach that ace potential pegged at the time of the Halladay trade.

McGuire did have a pretty good season at AA...
But he had been hit pretty hard at AAA.
He will probably end up like Chad Jenkins.

Nope. Sanchez could help the team out but probably from out of the BP, he's not ready to start in the big leagues yet. Still has control issues he needs to work on. My point was that these guys are all highly touted. A bit far from being on the big club but Sean-Reid Foley was drafted 49th overall when he was projected as the 18-19th best prospect in the draft. Huge steal to get him where we did. The pitching with this franchise is in good hands.

Yeah...
The farm starts to look very deep again.
The Jays drafted well the last couple of years...
But they also invested in development the last 2 or 3 seasons...
And it has began to show.

2016 is the year we could see a big chunk of our prospects make the jump. We could see all of Stroman, Hoffman, Norris, Sanchez all on the big club.

Rotation could look like this:

Stroman
Norris
Hoffman
Hutch
Sanchez

So who are we going to trade for another starter? Hutch and Stroman starting to look off limits at this point...

Well Cubs are asking for Sanchez, Norris and Dalton Pompey which is a ridiculous price for Shark and apparently there is an issue in trade talks. Stroman and Hutch are untouchables right now. There is no way Stroman is getting traded.

And Bautista would be gone and EE on his way out if the Jays just waited to 2016 to find pitching from within.

Hopefully AA has a bit of luck with his rumoured interest in Cole Hamels.

Well it all depends really. The Phillies can't do much when Utley and Rollins have 10/5 rights and won't waive their no-trade clauses. Not sure if Hamels is open to it, but he would be very expensive to get.

AA should go after a guy like Hammel or Ian Kennedy. Guys like Price/Shark/Hamels are going to cost a fortune in prospects and money. I'd prefer if he went out and got a rental for this year only.
