If Krug is fixated on Spurgeon deal he’s gone

if the Bruins really offered 6X6.5 M and meant it he should seriously think about it

the agent however unless he’s getting a flat fee and not based on contract would pass on Boston’s

Not my money but I’m not Delonte West so I’ll never spend close to this and Boston where I want to be

it’s right in line with Marchand deal and revenue way down

I love the player but 6 years starting at age 30 season with legit guys in the pipeline I’m surprised Sweeney even offered 6x6.5 ~ 39 M

If Krug wants to stay here I’d counter 6 years 40 M total

keep away from being highest paid and you get a great contract on a top team in a place you know

Does Ghost make logical sense as a target to replace Krug?

Can plug and play on the PP
They know how to shelter Krug so Ghost would be no different
Has the low cap hit they would be looking for at 4.5 mill
Not a rental....has 3 years on his deal
Looks to be a buy low but with lots of upside
Fits the Bergeron/Marchand window

If this happens, he better have a deal in place to trade Kase + Moore somewhere because we'll need the 14 million we have now to keep Debrusk/Gryz/Chara and upgrade the top 6.

Bruins better off seeing what they have in Zboril and Vaakaneinen than rolling the dice on those knees and that production trend. Honestly, Ghost is in cap dump territory right now.

No thanks. We need to move on from the guy. Good luck to him.

With the pandemic Krug and many others will not get the big pay day that is expected.... why there's a good chance Krug stays in Boston. I like Krug but the bruins may have some internal candidates to replace him. I would like to see the bruins go after a bigger top 4 mobile physical D man.

Krug has been great for Boston, but I suspect we have seen the best of him, only downhill from here. Let him walk and invest the savings in bringing in a legitimate top 6 winger. We also need more size and grit in both our forward and D.

On the fence on this one. I still think we need more size on defence, especially now I'm almost sure Chara will not come back.

The thing is: 6.5M is way too much money for a guy like Krug, who might be effective for 3 or 4 years. Maybe we would be better off just replacing him with guys like Dillon or Brodie and loading our second line: top line is fantastic, but they need help asap.

It’s really tough to actually upgrade the team if they pay Krug

It wouldn’t make much sense. So basically you would’ve dumped Kase and probably Ritchie lost a first rd pick in a deep draft and still eat some of Backes money for a month of Kase with zero goals lol and a benched Ritchie

Time is up for Krug in Boston. He was a liability this past year, especially in the playoffs, during 5-on-5 play and I can't see why a long term (or any big money) deal makes sense. If we sign him for 6 years it will be one of those haunting contracts preventing us from becoming a better team.

I hope he signs a big contract elsewhere.

This would be my choice as GM and I think GHOUSTS defense's a little better than Krugs D so that is a bonus. The problem is the cost! If it's an AHL player or low draft pick I'm in.

Agree, Kase is not going anywhere. Sweeney was right in that the deal moving Backes was not just a salary dump (I think he stretched a bit when he said it was 'not primarily a salary dump,' though). Kase is going to get this chance this season to show what he can do. The tools are there and I expect him to play regular minutes for us this season. Ritchie, meh, that was a separate deal and so far it looks like Anaheim won. Danton Heinen should have brought us something better back.

As @Bodit9 said, he's an offensive specialist defenseman. No way do I pay 8 million for 5-6 years for that and mediocrity otherwise. I wouldn't pay that much for a defensive specialist defenseman either.

Yep, I am with you 100%. 6 mil for 4 years (5 at a stretch) okay. He is very good at what he does well. Bruins just shouldn't cripple their cap with more (even a minor crippling). They need the money to meaningfully upgrade their secondary scoring.
