Great night for Krug. Cannot say enough good things about his offensive and DEFENSIVE play in the playoffs. He is very important to the B's success.

I wasnt krugs biggest supporter for years... ive cautioned his next contract might be killer... ive said we cant keep him and grze and too many other smaller dmen

But

His leadership is shining through

His level of battle and compete is showing more hunger to win

And i dare say his defense has become slightly better

Im guessing next contract starts at 7.5 mill for 5 years but thats a killer caphit for us

I wonder with his leadership can we go 8 years? Front load it... load it with signing bonus... dont include a no trade in those last couple years

Would he take 44 mill over 8 years?

Honestly im starting to think of him as core. I want this new improved krug here the next 3-4 years. If it costs us a front loaded deal that gives him 40 mill over 6 and then a movable 5 at the tail end i say do the deal

Torey has been with with us dating back to the year we lost to the Hawks in the finals. He's the Bruin I most want to see hoist the Cup.

Krug and Marchand are kind of similar

both can have a pretty crappy game or two, but then totally redeem themselves, with performances like tonight

also give credit to the coaching staff, for figuring out Blues PP "holes". No more cross ice seem passes that get deflected

After some period of time just reading these boards i finally registered. So hi to all of you.

I saw Krug first time in when he (and Hamilton) made their first appearences in the 2013 post season. At the very moment i saw that this guy is a going to be one hell of a player. There has been some ups and downs for Krug and his career hasnt developed as it looked like back in the days, but i think this season has proved that he is more elite d-man than secondary unit player. However theres some issues still remaining and it seems that hes not those guys who manage to handle regular season with high quality from day to day, but when it comes to post season hes totally different player now. Theres something same with the career high Crosby who might be searching his game during the regular season, but when it comes to must win situations he is giving everything what it takes for winning. Thats the issue with Krug, these guys are wery limited in the todays NHL and most wanted players...and they will cost especially when they are not 3rd line grinders. Krug will have terrific deal with the Bruins or somewhere else and i really cant see that there is too much of these winner type of guys in Bruins at the moment and they should sign him at any cost.

Welcome to the board! Good post, hopefully the Bruins and Krug will find some common ground and make a deal. After all, he was undrafted and the Bruins showed enough faith in him to throw him in the playoffs against the Rangers.

Time will tell

I want to formally apologize for all the crap I gave this guy this season. He is really stepping up these playoffs but especially the finals. I have the most confidence in him and Mac out there on both sides of the puck.

He makes me think of a better Rafalski which is a dream come true.

He needs to stay.
When he first broke into the league I hoped he’d become a Rafalski like player. I’d say these playoffs are the closest he’s gotten to that level. Rafalski was also a beast defensively and a good hitter. Krug definitely has the heart.

Man, his value across the league right now with this PP efficiency is ridiculous. You could probably get both of Colorado's 1st round picks in this draft for him in a trade.

If we win it all, would a money ball strategy dictate that he be traded? Or do we pay him and trade other players?

No idea. It pays to keep him at a reasonable cost (under $7m) and it pays to trade him at his highest value when your PP is at a historic rate. I guess if someone is willing to trade all out for him and you can get a future #1C in Zegras or maybe Cozens plus more, I think I would make that trade if I were the GM.
