So, is anyone still left on here that doesn’t think we absolutely have to sign this guy for whatever he wants?, he’s the entire back engine of this team, we will look WAY different if he moves on in terms of transition game, power play entry, power play QB.

He’s absolutely dominant at times and we have to find a way to bring him back. Carlo, McAvoy, Grizz, Krug, Clifton are the core to me. I love Miller and Chara, but you have to take the Belichick approach here.

From today's Globe......I wasn't aware of this one:

Beginning next season, the NHL will penalize players who don’t immediately go to the bench after losing their helmet.

LOL! Great. It will make strategic sense to "accidentally" take a good player's helmet off whenever possible. I get the rule, but I don't like it one bit.

The Quiet Corner
total defensive liability, easily replaced:sarcasm:

I will be more than happy to eat crow IF and only IF he continues to play this well defensively next season.

I have to ask- WTF has this guy been until now??? Up until the playoffs this season he'd been a f***ing train wreck in his own end, showed zero interest in doing anything about it and basically got mauled by larger players. Maybe a switch got flipped on inside him :dunno: Hopefully it remains on.

we shall see, I`ve always been able to forgive TK for his defensive shortcomings for what he brings at the other end of the ice.

You know Marchand will be practicing ripping helmets off all summer now.

What is the purpose of this rule? They treat these grown men like mites.
Maybe insurance purposes, I’m not sure. It doesn’t happen very often anyway, and if a player went head first into another player or the boards, it wouldn’t be good.

Sadly it will probably take a full season to add the obvious counter penalty for deliberately removing another players helmet.

Exactly.

Haven’t thought it through yet...but first blush, when on the PP if a players helmet is knocked off and he has to skate 100 feet to the bench leaving his team down 2 players for 5-10 seconds, it will be interesting.

Love on the main boards that the STL fan's perspective on Krug's hit last night was that he should have gotten a penalty because he skated like really fast and hit Thomas like really hard. lofl

He POWER SKATED into him.

Then he got shown the video that showed Krug crossing over 3 times and gliding 15 feet, and he was like "It doesn't matter!"

Pierre Lebrun tweeted about it last night saying it should be a penalty... I know those hits don’t happen as often these days, but I guess he wasn’t watching hockey 5+ years ago. I think most Canadian media members are babies.

Such stupidity from a person that is way more respected in hockey circles than he should be. Guy is a toad.

Yep! Every time I go there I'm amazed at the level of stupid I see. I guess it's me that's dumb though because I'm literally surprised every time by how stupid it is.

There are some rational Blues fans. However, they are drowned out by the self-proclaimed law student diligently studying for the bar while simultaneously racking up hundreds of posts.

And then he claimed he doesn't have time to watch videos or back up his claims because he's studying. But when you look thru his post history, it's literally nothing but crying about the refs since the start of the game.
