Lock in young players to league min(ish) deals. Makes sense, they end up as 4th liners or AHL players and it's fair value or its buried. They progress and you get a super cheap 3rd liner.

If the Leafs sign one more guy for the Marlies, I would say they are set.

The Marlies still have a ton of work to get a bunch of depth for the Growlers though, unless they are waiting to see if there is going to be a season.

Seems like a very strange deal but I like it for the leafs. It is a two way or one way?

Edit: i see it is a 2 way for first 2 years and 1 way for final year. Even more strange lol

its not my money......so 750000 for 3 years is low risk, high reward, no matter how he plays (right?)

The minimum wages have been raised

Kaplan: The minimum salary for an NHL player will remain at $700,000 next season. It will then rise to $750,000 for the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons.

You have to give Dubas credit for this offseason. Maybe no home run swing but plenty of quality at-bats including this signing. It's likely Anderson is a full time NHLer making the league minimum for at least the final two years. Kapanen trade also looks like an outright steal given better players than Kapanen are currently available as UFAs.

I didn't know you could make a contract partially two-way. Pridham at work.
Are you suggesting that this is some unknown loop hole that only Pridham is privy to?

That's insane. 3 years? That's an awesome deal where you honestly have to question why Anderson would even take it. It's not like it's entirely a 1 way deal - the first two years are two-ways.
