Yes, the guy declining for 5 years will magically look like his 28 year old self again.

It's jokes you think this because his most common linemates last season were Jumbo, Couture, and Pavelski. Are you saying they're not as good as our kids?

Jumbo Joe has an even lower P/60 than Marleau so you tell me?

I'm not sure what's funnier; that people still use these flawed stats, or that's what you're basing your entire opinion on?

How will he be utilized? Who will he play with? If he takes JVR's spot, will he bring more value in all 3 zones?

You literally have no idea about any of this but base your opinion on flawed numbers, created so people who have no idea can think they have a clue. Remember when Jason Demers signed, and clowns were posting his advanced numbers saying it's a steal? ..... now they're having trouble giving him away.

I'd take Demers. People trash his defense for no reason. He actually had a pretty good season.

On to part 3 of more whining that Marleau isn't a good player now and for the next 3 years.

LOL, Kessel, Hunwick Bernier, Reimer all all-stars now.

Gotta stay positive and trust the management....right?
Admittedly, I think it's a bad signing but I'll reserve my criticism until the end of year one. It's possible that he could experience a resurgence and is dominate playing with centers who utilize a speed game (one of his strengths).

According to advanced stats? I guess I'm not surprised.

People who evaluate the play and actually know what they're talking about have little interest in him at that number... He can thank you and the rest of the fancy stats people for being grossly overpaid.

So you trust your eyes over stats that prove he's better than you give credit for?

Yeah, bye.

To be fair, the guy scored 27 last season, he doesn't need to resurge, just maintain that skill level and reep the benefits of playing with Matthews/Nylander.

What he's telling you is that Marleau needs a boatload of TOI to produce his points.

2012-2013 ranked 137th (lockout)
2013-2014 ranked 59th
2014-2015 ranked 109th
2015-2016 ranked 185th
2016-2017 ranked 157th

Not the last word on a player's abilities but a very important metric nonetheless (for scoring forwards).

Last year:

Marleau: 1.47
Thornton: 1.31

He also had the second highest G/60 on the team last year.

I get it, you are looking at the bright side.

But any sharks fan is going to tell you Thornton > Marleau every single year they played together. Including last year when both were stepping backwards. Thornton outpointed Marleau last year in less games.

Well, he will be on our top line....does equal a boatload?
