Every year a few players surprise or breakout depending on your perspective. Obviously several Knights players last year had career seasons. In addition, Couturier, Trocheck, Rantanen saw point production increase 1/3 or more.

So exclusive of rookies, who are your top 6 for big point increases this season?

I would guess:

Janmark (Stars)--he has lots of skill; seems to have his health issue under control; had an excellent World Championship; and the Stars need another scorer.

Hertl (Sharks)--the season a player turns 25 often sees an uptick; Karlsson is going to create more offense and Hertl might just be the main recipient.

Eriksson Ek (Wild)--coming off a 16 point season it doesn't take much to get a % increase, but I think he has a shot at 40-45 points this season.

Coleman (Devils)--this defensive specialist showed some ability to score as the season went on in 17-18; with more ice time something like 35-40 points is not out of the question.

Schmaltz (Blackhawks)--a player coming off a 21-goal 31-assist season will be hard pressed to breakout; Schmaltz could center Kane and Saad, if the latter returns to form then 70 points for Schmaltz is conceivable.

Pulock (Islanders)--a young defenseman who put up 32 points in 68 games could increase that to near 50 for a full season.

Eriksson Ek is going to be hard-pressed to see any PP time. Without it, he would have to have a hell of a year to sniff 40 points. Last year, guys like Couture, Johansen, Kadri, Stepan all played close to a full season and didn't reach 40 ES points. Eriksson Ek doing it from our 3rd line would be insane.

Thomas Chabot. EK leaving should really open the opportunities for him, especially on the power play.
