You didn't mention whose rankings they are - I'll guess ISS.

And to answer your question - because it's 2 or 3 years away.

Here are some players from Europe for those draft years.

I can't make any rankings yet, because there are still some players on this list that i haven't seen yet (Kana, Petrov, Roth, Kuchin, Vincour, Mylläri, Hedman & Turkulainen) and players that i have seen only 1-2 times (Tedenby, Pääjärvi, Petersson, Haula), but still these players are the ones that i look forward to.

Jan Kana, 1990, F, CZE (2008)
Vladimir Roth, 1990, D, CZE (2008)
Kirill Petrov, 1990, F, RUS (2008)
Mattias Tedenby, 1990, F, SWE (2008)
Andre Petersson, 1990, F, SWE (2008)

What can you tell me about Kitsyn and Kuchin? From the little bit I've heard, they could end up being studs...

What's the early word on the 2008 draft? Deep or thin? Lacking top end talent or not?

Can't comment on any other leagues, but it's deep as hell in the WHL. 2007 is supposed to be a pretty good WHL year, and the 2008 guys are probably outplaying the 2007s right now.

Teubert, Beach, Hulak, Schmidt, Boychuk (assuming he's still growing), Wahl are all off to great starts and look like they'll be high picks next year.

Hulak is born sept 2nd, 1989, so he is 2007 draft eligible

Confused 2008 should be 1990 born players? why wouldnt tavares be in 2008 not 09... gagner is an 89 and thus why he is eligible for 2007--- they played together on the Mionor Midget Marlies and tavares was a 90 playing with 89s... is it his birth month thats the issue?

What about guys like Alex Pietroangelo (1990 born with Ice Dogs) and isnt Hodgson a 1990 born player? 91s will be OHL drafted this year and eligible for 2009... guys like Casey Tsezakas and Michael Fine....O'Reilly off of the 1991 GTHL Canadiens... the 91s from Brampton Minor Midget AAA... Bathgate and theres another player who should be considered a top 1991 from brampton AAA and played with the Provincial Jr A Capitals in their pre-season tournys (name escapes me)

The cutoff date for each draft is September 15th. Tavares is born on the 21st (?) of September in 1990, therefore ineligible for the 2008 Draft. Though, the Panthers might try and take him anyways...

If you want to do a little guessing, The Scouting News had the framework for their top 10 1991 birthdays in NA on their site a while ago. They said they had 2 players from BC, 2 from Sasktachewan, 2 from Ontario, 1 from Nova Scotia, 2 from Michigan, and 1 from New York. I don't subscribe so I took a minute to think about it and think I got most of the list. You can try it yourself.

Ryan Howse - BC
Landon Ferraro - BC
Jared Cowen - Saskatchewan
Carter Ashton or Jimmy Bubnick - Saskatchewan
Matt Duchene - Ontario
Peter Holland - Ontario
Steve Anthony - Nova Scotia
Cam Fowler - Michigan
Kenny Ryan? - Michigan
Jeremy Morin? - New York

well this is how I would brake this down:

Landon Ferraro and Ryan Howse from BC
Cowen and Bubnick from Saskatchewan
Duschene and Holland like you said from Ontario
Steve ANthony who I know thescoutingnews has ranked as the top 91 in the world
Fowler and Ryan are probably the ones from Michigan
Morin from NewYork possibly, he is so overrated though.

Like I said you better start ranking Kyle Beach - Jan 13/90 - Everett Silvertips 6'3 190lbs 9gp 5g 5a 10pts +7 25pims.

Last season in BC Major Midget as a 15 yr old, he finished Top 5 in pts in the league with 41pts in 25 games to go along with 220pims.
