Kyle Beach is the best pure power forward prospect to come along in over a decade. He's the type of player organizations kill to have, and will likely have a monster season next year with his center Hamill - who he has great chemistry with - also returning to Everett. Projects as a Shanahan/Roberts type in pro ... 35-40 goal upside from a guy who will play at 6'3" 215 and loves to drop the gloves. 30 goals/200 PIM as a 16 y/o in the WHL this year.

I don't know a ton about the guys outside of the WHL, but I don't see how Beach could be outside of the top 5 heading into the season. Would have gone top-10 (and probably top-5) in this draft if he was eligible.

Absolutely a miles better prospect than the 5'9" Zach Boychuk, who is a big talent but has major obstacles to overcome if he's going to be a successful NHL player. Nice numbers this year, but he won't be a top-20 pick when the 2008 draft rolls around a year from now. Those two guys should have their positions swapped in your list.

Beach will end up top 10, as will Schenn. Those guys will be top1 0 picks out of the WHL, dont know about Boychuck.

Canadians in the top 8 spots? Please remove blinders. The trend has been toward international balance.

Please refer to the trend in the past three NHL Drafts '05 '06 '07. International content has really dropped off and will continue to do so with the new development window for european prospects shrinking as well as the lack of a transfer agreement with the RHF.

I don't understand why personally since the talent is still there, teams just have less time to make a read on their development and wether or not to sign them. Should make for more late round draft steals coming out of European leagues if this continues.

2008's draft class might be an exception in the fact that the top 8 or 10 NA top prospects might really warrent being at the top of the draft list regardless of the above mentioned Euro trend.

Totally Agree with you!!!!:yo: I loved watching this kid last year.

My only concern with him is towards the end of the year he started getting a little bit lazy. Would take a shift off here and there or not play defense. Maybe just worn down after the long season, I'm not sure. Hope it isn't an attitude problem cuz this kid has all the talent in the world to be a GREAT NHLer

Gladly. With Kane, JVR, E Johnson, B Ryan, Ovechkin and Malkin...Canada only has 2 of the top 8 picks from the last 4 years.

Top 8 picks Canadian in 2008...er, no. I'll bet my life savings on that one.

he could be, he had an awseome WHL Playoffs and Mem Cup I think if he keeps it up this season then he could have a shot at being top 20, his only downside is his size.
