Jets

Colorado / Calgary / San Jose

Colorado isn't ready to contend yet, and their management isn't going to make any moves that might put them closer to contending, if it means trading away picks and prospects. The Avs are probably going to be a threat by next season.

Calgary looks like the real deal right now, but I don't think they are quite good enough to make it happen.

SJ has the talent and has a chance to contend, but in my opinion, they will start to trend downwards and time is running out for them.

The West is much more difficult to judge than in recent years.

Well, Winnipeg and Nashville belong on the list until someone proves otherwise.

It gets a little fuzzy after that between Colorado and Calgary.

I still think of it as the jets and preds being the 2 heavyweights.... then you got the next group led by teams like colorado and calgary.

Yah. If the Avs get passed the first round, that's awesome. That's pretty much the goal for this year considering what stage of development the team is at. If they lose in the first round, oh well. If they get passed the second round, then that's a huge bonus.

If they finish top 4 and then pick top 5...that's probably best case scenario

1. Nashville
2. Winnipeg
3. Who tf knows

Number 3 could be any of San Jose, Calgary or Colorado

This is where I am coming out. Right now I give 3rd to CGY but the Sharks just have so much talent underperforming (Jones, E. Karlsson, Vlasic, Couture) I could see them going on a tear if they start hitting on all cylinders.

The Jets suck ass and anyone could beat them as they are more overrated than the Maple Leafs.

San Jose is the only correct choice.

Nashville, Winnipeg, and Calgary are all pretenders that will fall apart in the playoffs.

San Jose is the team to beat. They will probably make a huge deadline push.

Winnipeg/Nashville are the other top 2 IMO. No disrespect intended to Calgary, but they will have to beat SJ.. and I don’t think they can in a series.

It will be SJ vs Winnipeg/Nashville for the West final.

San Jose will likely have to beat Vegas before they meet Calgary, assuming that Calgary finishes 1st in the Pacific and Calgary wins the 1st playoff round. I like Vegas's chances with Fleury in net.

The Avs are missing an elite 2c otherwise I'd put them in the top 3

Jets have enough depth and wingers to carry

1. NSH
2. WPG
3. CGY (my darkhorse)

SJS would've been here but idk
The team currently in first in a darkhorse lol

5) Winnipeg - so overrated. Hellebuyck looks brutal now. They take too many dumb penalties. Laine is a power play specialist and nothing more. No second line Center.

I am not confident the Jets are going to make it past the second round but calling them so over rated seems a bit harsh. Virtually every expert has the Jets as one of or the deepest teams in the league. The are among the league leaders in goals differential, top 8 both offensively AND defensively, 4th best PP and 10th best PK.

All of this while not playing that great. Your points are valide, "Hellebuyck looks brutal now. They take too many dumb penalties. Laine is a power play specialist and nothing more. No second line Center." All teams have flaws (except maybe Tampa Bay). But consider a top 5 C, one of the best RW in the league, a dominant third line, 3 x 30 goal scorers, one of the best shut down duos in the league, and Byfuglien - a star defenseman.
