There is more to hockey than putting up points. Steen and Gustafsson were just better players.
You are right but if Steen and Gustafsson were better why haven't they not even a second all star,selke or something like that? Steen or Gustafsson had never been considered as a superstar in NHL while Naslund had been there.

Näslund was never a superstar in the NHL. He was considered a great goalscorer. Gustafsson and Steen are just better all-around players. Näslund got his three seasons and the other two had extensive careers both in the NHL and internationally and most important of all they didnt under perform in important games.
Naslund won a Pearson, was nominated for the Hart twice, was named First Team All-Star LW three consecutive years. Three top-5s in points, two top-5s in goals.
Steen/Gustafsson would have to play Lehtinen-calibre defensive hockey to pass Naslund.
I looked closer to this and Naslund had most points even if you include the season 2000-2001. So if you put up most points during a four consecutives season,three first all star and a Lester B. What had you to perform before you had to be considered as a superstar?

a superstar to me is someone who is undoubtly a top player for an extended period of time. Like Jagr for example or Richard. Näslund is a star sure but he wasnt a star when it came to important games or international for that matter. If we were discussing peak only then I would rank him higher though.

I rank the players not only after skill, If so Lidstrom would not be in block one.
Think I wrote it somewhere in the first post, that I include skill, longtivety and merits. Winning a Stanley Cup beats Pearson for instance. That's why Alfie and Naslund isn't ranked higher.
Why I rank some of the guys from 70/80s higher is because the league was a lot tougher to break into for non NA.players. If "Gus" played today, with his playmaking skills, his leadership and smartness, he would easily be where younger fans sees Alfie today, or even higher. That's why I can't be too high on some of today's players because the game, coaches and so on are alot more Europeanfriendly.
On my list I forgot to squeeze in Pelle Lindbergh and Calle Johansson. I guess Pelle belongs in block 2, thanx to breaking ground for Swedish goalies and his death leading to legendary status. Calle to block 3.

What is it about Steen's or Gustafsson's game that puts either of them ahead of Naslund? It sounds to me like you just don't like Naslund.
Well the Sedins have been point per game guys since 2005 so I just threw up more then.
Are you kidding me. He was a top 5 forward in the league from 2001-2004 and won a major award. Neither Steen or Gustafsson come close.
Kallur,Persson would be a lock to block one if you rank a Stanley Cup higher than a Lester B.

And why is Markus Naslund rated higher then Alfredsson? He has way less points in more games. Never took his team as far in the playoffs and his playoff stats arent as good either.

I would say Peter Forsberg is certainly the #1 Swedish-born player to ever play in the NHL... by which I mean his peak was the highest peak any Swede has shown. I don't even think it's close, to be honest.
But I guess you'd have to say Lidström has had the best overall career.
