Kind of off-topic but I think this spells the end of Leblanc. The organizational direction has definitely moved to bigger, more physical players and we already have higher end talent than him in Collberg and Kristo.

13 - Leblanc
14 - Bournival
15 - Tokarski

I am no expert...But I find that you all rank Nygren way too low.

I put him at 11. I love him as a prospect but he plays a very European game and I'm not sure how well it will translate. I don't really see him as above any of the guys I ranked. Hudon, Dietz, Lehkonen, and Nygren are all on a fairly similar level IMO.

Could we put Galchenyuk in this ranking?

Not sure if Galchenyuk would make the top 15.

Find it sickening that our 2nd pick of the whole draft falls at 12. We could've done far better. On the other hand, thanks to Fucale we now have a really good group of goaltenders. Fucale, Condon and Tokarski is really good going forward.

Sickening? Some of the hockey pubs had De La Rose as a 1st rounder. In fact McCarron, DLR, Fucale, Lekhonnen were all 1st rounders on some of the hockey writers mock drafts.

New prospects always get ranked lower until they transition to the pros. Why everybody is complaining is beyond me. Most people us having a top 5 draft.

I love that top 12 or so, a lot of potential and a real mix of talent in there as well. Definitely a really great draft for adding a new twist to our crop of prospects. Getting Fucale and Mike/DLR even though the forwards don't have 'top shelf' potential to me Mike especially is very intriguing to see how he progresses. I can't even begin to pretend I can predict how he'll turn out but I see big potential just no idea if it emerges.

Why are people ranking DLR below Lekhonen? Not a single NHL team would have done that.

Wait a sec. This is a list that you made up? And we're suppose to take this as gospel truth. What if I make a list and place de la Rose in third. Could I say hot doggity we really struck gold in this draft?

With that latest draft, really wondering about our D prospects now, would have liked a Bowey-type at least because our D pool seems really shallow with only Tinordi, Beaulieu and Dietz as sure things IMO (Nygren, Thrower, Ellis, Pateryn and Didier could amount to something)

We have many types of forwards, but our D is a little worrisome, especially when you know how valuable those minute-eating d-men are.

Anyways, I'd go:

1-Tinordi
2-Beaulieu
3-Fucale
4-Collberg
5-Kristo
6-De La Rose
7-McCarron
8-Dietz
9-Hudon
10-Lehkonen
11-Bozon
12-Nygren
13-Leblanc
14-Thrower
15-Bournival
16-Andrighetto
17-Ellis
18-Dumont
19-Vail
20-Didier
21-Reway
22-Condon
23-Gregoire
24-Pateryn
25-MacMillan

Yup, serious. I don't think Tinordi, Beaulieu and Kristo have a ton of upside. Our best young players in their twenties are already in the NHL.

You know you're talking about upside right? Beaulieu is the guy with the most upside in all of the Montréal prospects, in that regard he's by far our best prospect. Whether he'll hit his potential is a different answer though, no offense but I don't think your list is very good. Especially with the season Beaulieu had in the AHL.

In the Beaulieu games I've seen, in Hamilton and at the WJC, he's been inconsistent. Great skater, good hands. Good wingspan, but more stork-like than solid physically. I see him as a bit of a tweener - not quite creative enough to be a top producing D, but also doesn't see the game like a minute eating, safe D. That said, he probably has enough tools to make it in some capacity, hence #7 on my list. I just don't see huge upside.

Out of curiosity, what do you expect of Hudon?

I hope he can bring enough creativity, quickness, chutzpah and smarts to the pros to be a factor both offensively and defensively. I'm encouraged that he made Team Canada's u20 team already (the list of players who have made the team at 18 years old is a very good one). He outperformed some older and more hyped prospects in his Hamilton stint. The concern is injuries.

Man, you put Hudon in first. Nygren before Collberg and Beaulieu. Doesn't make sense, sorry.

That's fine by me, I probably wouldn't have posted the list if I expected people to agree. I hope we remember to check this thread in a couple of years. :)

Not sure what you're talking about with the injury concerns, he certainly has the hockey IQ to turn into a good defensive player. Even then he will always be someone who likes to take risks, sometimes those risks will create turnovers. Beaulieu is a great skater, you rarely see a defender who's that smooth of a skater. He also has very good hockey sense, his positioning defensively needs work but it will improve as he gets older. You also have to remember that he's only 20 years old and entered the AHL at 19 years old. Also I don't think there's no question his offensive game translates to the pros.

I think you are confusing two of my posts - the one you quoted, mentioning injuries and a lot of positives was about Hudon.

As for Beaulieu, you're partly right, he was a young NHL'er, but he was 20 for most of last season (Dec 5th birthday). From what I've seen, his hockey IQ isn't exceptional. I hope I'm wrong.

Sorry lol, I thought you were talking about Beaulieu. Now your comment makes much more sense, let's agree to disagree on Beaulieu.
