31 teams at 3 players each is 93 players.

So a top 100 would have roughly on average the best top 3 players in each team so if you have 5 on the list that is pretty good for the Leafs.

This list actually favors the Leafs as the new #topNHLplayers on NHL.com didn't have Marner in the top 25 wingers in the NHL nor Rielly in the top 25 Dmen so on the NHL list only 3 Leafs would make the top list with Matthews, Tavares and Andersen.

No Leaf made the top 25 wingers? That seems strange.

lets be honest, its a lose lose for sportsnet. Any more leafs included and its Leaf bias and any less Leafs included and we all get our pitchforks out.

This ratings are kinda dumb when its 100 players, 50 is easier to be objective.

Imagine the howls if the Leafs had 7 players on the list. It means nothing anyways.

Five players out of 100 seems quite good. Wonder where that ranks out of all teams? Tougher list to compile when factoring in and comparing forwards, defencemen and goalies.

Maybe/maybe not. As for the list, there are a lot of players in the league.

IMO, Kadri would be listed ahead of Nylander after Marner(barely ahead though)
I'm more concerned that Sean Couturier got on the list with 1 good year in 6 pro seasons and ranked 44th

Couts is pretty great. He got screwed by extreme defensive usage and no PP time for most of his career, but the underlying numbers have always said he is excellent.

Probably too high but IMO, he should be on the list.
I don't think they are looking at careers, just last year/projected this year.

Awful list. The Leafs should have at least 7 players in the top 100.

Matthews
Tavares
Marner
Rielly
Nylander
Kadri
Andersen
a lot of good players play outside of Toronto. It’s not a shot a the leafs if they don’t make the list. I’m sure every fan base in the league feels the same about their players.

Good player but there are a lot of good players in the league. Pha has 5 guys on the list. Something doesn't smell right.

the real issue for Philly is Gostisbehere. He doesn't belong anywhere near a top-100 list.

The Ghost finished 4th in Dman scoring with 65 points last year with a 0.83 Pts/g, with John Carlson leading the league with 68.

That is more points than Nylander (0.74 Pts/g) and just a few less than Marner (0.84 pts/g) and Gostisbehere is a Dman.
