I don't think the case is closed until they actually do those things.

Today,

Lidstrom
Foppa
Karlsson
Lundqvist
Zetterberg
H.Sedin
D. Sedin
Backstrom
Salming
Sundin

The question was if you BELIEVE that they will make it to the top 10 by the time they retire. I believe so and given that we can't no for sure as of right now there is no rights or wrongs. My opinion is they will have more successful carreers and you can believe whatever you want.

Dahlin is 18, looks like 25. He'll be better than Karlsson.
Pettersson will have a more successful carreer than Zetterberg by the time he retires.

Case closed.

It is possible that E. Pettersson & R. Dahlin end up as top 10 Swedish Players of All Time. They both are very gifted and pretty much elite already, however there are so many variables in play that everything must fall into place perfectly and the probability of that is unlikely.

Yes of course, but looking at Dahlin for example. Drafted 1st overall, was playing against grown men as a 17-year old and did amazing. Karlsson was nowhere near Dahlin at the same age. I'd say the probability is very likely he'll pass Karlsson.

Pettersson dominated SHL last season and he's off to a great start in Van. If he keeps developing as expected I see him easily becoming better than atleast Zetterberg.

Again, these are my opinions. I believe these two are the best players we've produced in a long time and we'll just have to wait and see :)

Sundin is top-5 for sure. Most points in the NHL with very little help. Probably the best Swedish player of all time in international events too.

Forsberg and Lidström are neck in neck for 1st spot. Karlsson should be very high too, ahead of Salming.

You realize that players can develop at different places right?

Just because a player was better sooner doesn't mean he'll be a better player later.
Karlsson had a torrid development pace from the time he was 18 to the time he was the 3rd youngest Norris winners after Orr and Potvin.

I had no idea. Thanks for learning me about development.

And you're probably correct. Dahlin has already peaked. It's going downwards from here on...

When i first saw the list and noticed Steen I figured I could honestly find a spot in the top 10.
Couldn't pull it off though. Heck of a player but a heck of a peer group as well.

So many great players, it’s hard to make a top 10 list.

Mats Sundin - Wikipedia

He played 18 season in the NHL and is the only Swedish player to have scored atleast 500 goals. Yes, he is a Hall of Famer.
Not to mention it's a full on bizarre comment that hes had among the best 3 year stretches ever when he has no norris trophies.

Bourque, coffee, langway and others all have consecutive norris trophies. So by that criteria he falls behind them for best 3 year stretch ever.

I'd also toss in pronger, niedermayer, Steven's, and many others in that category.

Putting Forsberg ahead of Lidstrom is like saying Malkin over Crosby

It’s a lot closer than people think. Lidstrom definately had the better career due to longevity, but when healthy Forsberg was a beast and flat out dominated.

The table below shows the top 25 career era-adjusted scorers in NHL history sorted by era-adjusted points per game.

I have Lidström as #1 on my list, hard to argue against 7 Norris Trophies lol, he was the perfect player, smart mistake free hockey. I can however see why some posters have Forsberg #1, he made a huge impact on the game when he played and was practically unstoppable, unfortunately he suffered too many injuries that derailed his career.
