Who do you think will be #7 in points this season? I will do a poll for the next 2 nights to find out the top 10 in points based on your predictions. Might be fun to look back at the end of the season.

1: Auston Matthews (47.2% 51 votes)
2: John Tavares (50% 46 votes)
3: Mitch Marner (87.8% 108 votes)
4: William Nylander (89.6% 60 votes)
5: Nazem Kadri (58.9% 56 votes)
6: Morgan Reilly (60% 51 votes)
7:
8:
9:
10:

Morgan Reilly takes the 6th vote and for good reason. Coming off a 52 point season, at 24 years old, Reilly looks primed to have another breakout season. Reilly will likely start the season with Hainsey, unless there is a trade before the season starts. I predict Reilly to get 55-60 points this upcoming season.

I’m going to re-up my vote on Marleau.

I'd say the new few spots including this should go:

Marleau

It was tough to decide between Gardiner and Marleau for this spot. Went with Gardiner.

This is not shaping up well.

Leafs are paying Marleau $6.25 mil for the next 2 years and expectations despite playing with Matthews and Nylander that he doesn't finish in the top 6 in Leaf scoring should be a concern to everyone with 50 or less points on the year.

Marleau should be playing with JT or Matthews, I mean it is why they signed him originally (to play with Matthews).

If he does play with either one and doesn't reach 55 points he will be very much on his last legs.

I was thinking the same thing. Marleau will be playing with an iteration of Matthews/Nylander/Tavares/Marner, so if he plays a full season and doesn't crack at least 50 points, that's underwhelming production.

Marleau is going no too high here... he belongs around 9/10
He is going to get PP time plus playing on one of the best lines in the league (either the JT or Matthews line), he is going to put up points just by being on the ice.

He is still a good skater and will have a ton of tap in goals and second assists.

How many points do you think he will put up?

I can see strong arguments for any of Marleau, Gards or Hyman. I’ll take Hyman, he improved a lot last year and I can see him taking another big step. Could potentially really click with Tavares and Marner too.

I think he could end up being this high if he's somehow put onto a PP unit. If not, I can't see him getting 50 EVP. Only 37 players in the whole league last year had 50+ EVP.

It's a fan poll, no one even know what the lines will actually look like, especially special teams. The top 4 is almost certainly some order of Matthews, Tavares, Marner, Nylander and the next four slots are completely interchangeable. Marleau could easily wind up in the top 6 for points depending on special team usage.

In fairness, 55 pts would've put Marleau in a tie for 4th with Kadri this past season. Would be great if Marleau could reach that total this season, but if not, a hopefully healthy/healthier Matthews and going from JVR to Tavares should at least be a couple of ways the team can offset any kind of fall off in production from others.

I would have went Gardiner but I took marleau.

Reason I didn't take Gardiner is because i think hes going to be alot more defensive minded this season

actually thinking about it now if i could i'd change my vote to A.J

Ya I had him earlier but I was going on the available options. Should see a bump in ice time and play with a more skilled center, I could see him having a big year (50-55 pts). Also he wont be used on a shutdown line this year which should help his offense game.

True, Hyman would very likely have to make it onto the 2nd PP to hit 50, which could be tough, but certainly possible. Assuming Marner/Rielly/Naz/JT/AM are PP1, I think the only PP2 locks are Nylander and Gards. Hyman would be battling with Marleau, Brown, Kapanen and Johnsson for the 3 remaining spots. I think Hyman has a decent shot to win a PP2 spot as the netfront presence.
