Who do you think will be #6 in points this season? I will do a poll for the next 3 nights to find out the top 10 in points based on your predictions. Might be fun to look back at the end of the season.

1: Auston Matthews (47.2% 51 votes)
2: John Tavares (50% 46 votes)
3: Mitch Marner (87.8% 108 votes)
4: William Nylander (89.6% 60 votes)
5: Nazem Kadri (58.9% 56 votes)
6:
7:
8:
9:
10:

Nazem Kadri lands in the top 5 based on your votes.

My prediction for #6 is Patrick Marleau. Patrick Marleau should be left flank on a line of either Auston Matthews / William Nylander or John Tavares / Mitch Marner. How crazy is that to say out loud... either way even if he ends up playing with Kadri again I still see him getting 55-60 points this year.

Also adding Nikita Zaitsev.

Hard to say between rielly and marleau. If Patty plays the season on Matthews line he may put up 55+ points.

I'm guessing Marleau will be playing alongside Matthews and Nylander (or Tavares and Marner). If so, I see him finishing ahead of Reilly. If he's on the third line with Naz, I'll go with Reilly. See him hitting 55 points-60 points this season.

Voted Rielly. No love for Jake yet is surprising...

Not 100% convinced gardiner will be here for the whole season maybe even to start the season. No letting assets walk for free and anything over $6m is too much for jake but a team will likely pay him $7m

I have Kadri at 6, not available to vote for.

Matthews
Marner
Tavares
Nylander
Marleau
Kadri

Marleau isn't going to get more than 45 points... Don't see him in the top 7 or 8 to be honest.

Even if he plays a full season with Matthews?

Well, there are a couple things to factor in here...
1: he ain’t getting any younger
2: he did play a lot of PP time with Matthews, and it’s not like Kadris line lacked offensive production last season.

It’s been a few years since Marleau cracked 50+ points, hasn’t it?

Last 4 years

2017-18 82gp 27g 20a 47p, 5PPg 4PPa

2016-17 82gp 27g 19a 46p, 7PPg, 9PPa

2015-16 82gp 25g 23a 48p, 11PPg 9PPa

2014-15 82gp 19g 38a 57p, 7PPg 11PPa

Last year was his best even strength output since 2013-14 where he got 70 points total. He's usually better on the PP but maybe it was a change from the Sharks system and he needed to adjust or just a down year there for him.
I think if Marleau is paired up with Matthews and Nylander for the entire season at even strength, he should put up some decent numbers. If Hyman can put up 40 even strength points with them, I can't see why Marleau can't. He just needs to get it going on the powerplay and he's back into 50+ territory.

His age is a concern but he hasn't missed a game since 2008-09, a decade ago.

Yeah true. IMO Marleau has proved that he ages very well.
I thought Marleau played well in a limited time with Matthews.
If he has a PPG center on his line I can definitely see him cracking 50+

It’s possible, but I’m not expecting it...

I find it funny there are people that expect 55+points out of a 39? Year old Marleau, but don’t think Marner can get 90+ points next season.

I for one believe Marner could get 90 points this year as well, yet I think it may be more likely Marleau sees a 8 point increase from last year than a 20+ point increase from Marner this year

I'm not sure how the 2 are related.

I think Marleau and Kadri should likely be flipped. IMO

A 1st line winger playing with Matthews should be able to score more points than a 3rd line C.

Reached the point where there should be very little separation in points between the rest of the top 10. Went with Rielly.

Another thing regarding Marleau is he had pretty high EN points last season IIRC, which obviously inflates his stats... I just don’t see in what world he cracks 50...

He's been hovering around just under the 50 point mark the last 3 years. Don't think it's so impossible to get a few more points with Matthews and Nylander. Especially if Matthews and Nylander have a year like everyone is expecting them to have.

If Babcock likes to keep the pairing of Kadri and Marleau together then I see him struggling to get 50 points but even then there's still a chance.

Of course it’s not impossible, but it certainly isn’t likely...

you don't think he'll be on the ice this year with the empty net?
