I know team canada selections are based on the needs of a team. A team built for winning which means a lot of good players are left off that team. My question is, who do you think are the top 10 best players in canada.

Forwards? Defensemen? Goaltender?
What are you looking for, any and all?

10 ten core players in Canada. Goalie included. What i'm looking for is basically 10 players in canada that can be a franchise player for any team. The best of the best in Canada. As of the last 2 years.

Please Rank them. From 1 to 10.

All positions taken into consideration, and no order.

Lemieux A given. Lemieux at 50% can still finish top ten in scoring.
Brodeur Current goalie king despite a lacklustre playoffs.
Iginla Been solid for the past few seasons. Very clutch as he's showing.
Heatley He's young, but every time I see him he amazes me.
Thornton Assuming this past season was an anomaly.
Pronger With Lidstrom, best d-man in the league IMO.
St-Louis He's shown he's that good.
Scott Niedermayer Best offensive defenseman with a great defensive game.
Bertuzzi When he's on, he's unstoppable.
Joe Sakic Not much to say. He's Joe.

I left Luongo off but he'll be there in a couple years.

Regency, every decision is hard because you always leave out good players. Right now, I don't envy what gretzky had to go thru.

They have golf rankings of the best golfers. Wonder if anyone has any idea how to come up with a hockey player rankings. Would be interesting.

Golfing is a indivdual sport so it'll be hard for NHL to come out with ranking of top players...

Your 10 are more or less my ten. I would probably pencil in Rob Blake instead of Niedermayer, but that's the ONLY change I'd make.
