Mark Fistric is a lesser known player who was one of the best hitters during his time in the league.

Chris Neil ran over countless guys. He always looked for big hits. YouTube him and you'll have page after page after page of huge hits.

This list is bizarre. So bizarre that I'm not voting. As noted by others, lots of glaring omissions, and some really weird inclusions.

In addition to the other names mentioned, definitely add Michael Peca ("Captain Crunch")

I'd add Byfuglien in there, he's laid out some nasty hits over the years. To the point where he was literally penalized for legal checks that were just devastating.

yeah not many players can knock over 2-3 opposing players and 1-2 of his own at the same time

Harvey/Robinson not getting enough love....but I guess it was long before most here were watching hockey. Stevens easily the best ever....Raffi Torres should be on this list.

I voted Steve Webb. Didn't have nearly the career that most of the choices had but he sure made his mark the few years he was able to stay in the league. Before the Yashin and Peca deals he was the 2nd best thing to watch on the Isles (Oleg the Mighty being the other)

Bertuzzi didn’t do it often but when he did, he was like getting hit by a truck

Stevens. Headshot artist.
aka "I saw his top 10 hits on youtube and think all his hits were like Lindros and Kariya."

Matt Cooke was a headhunter.

Stevens was a devastating open-ice hitter. Even of his Top 10 hits the only ones that wouldn't be legal under current rules are Kariya (late) and Lindros (elbow).

You're not providing me with any new information since i was fortunate enough to see them both playing.

Odd then that you still can't make the distinction.

Matt Cooke = headhunter
Scott Stevens = devastating open-ice hitter

I seem to remember Mike Peca being one of the best open ice hitters of his era
