Another LHD?

Injuries to Cole must be fairly serious or Zadorov could be on the move.

Hard not to like this deal. I’m not going to pretend like I know MacDonald well, but he put up more points than Toninato as a defenceman.

That MacDonald guy has 122 pts in 182 AHL games. That's legit really good.

How are we gonna find game time to all these players?

Weird, seems like a late bloomer. Could’nt score in NCAA but puts up 20 goals as a D in the AHL. Maybe he’s a good vet for the Eagles.

I don't see an issue here. After icing awful defense cores for what felt like an eternity it is incredible to have real depth.

Well I don't know. If you give a coach experinced options, he is gonna use them. There you have six guys with NHL experience on top of Meloche and Timmins. I want them to get 20 min per night for the Eagles. Not with that group to compete with.

And yes I know, injuries bla bla.

But it's quite insane of that second group of players with NHL experience but at replacement level are probably better than some of the groups of 5-6 defenseman we had outside of Erik Johnson about 5-7 years ago.

I wonder if Sakic traded him so he could get an opportunity. Obviously we are going to be extremely deep at center after trading for Kadri and offersheeting Aho.

I love it, honestly. I think Toninato was probably never really going to get a shot as our 4th line center, and likely wouldn't have wanted to move elsewhere anyway (he might have even requested this trade). I'm not worried at all about our AHL center depth - doesn't everyone want Shvyryov to get more minutes anyway? So to move an asset like Toni, who we'll likely not use, for a guy like MacDonald, who might have legit NHL upside or at least be a great AHL player - that's a move I like to see.

Plus given the injuries to Cole and EJ, we could use the depth. We're one injury away from having to call up somebody from the AHL, and he might be first up if we need a leftie.
