For future considerations. Will report to Hershey.

@VogsCaps: 1) #Caps have obtained D Tom Gilbert from LA for future considerations. Considerations are as follows: Kings retain 20% of Gilbert's salary.

@VogsCaps: 2) If #Caps win two or more playoff rounds during the '17 playoffs and Gilbert plays in 50% or more of Caps' total playoff games ...

@VogsCaps: 3) then #Caps will send 5th round pick in 2017 entry draft to LA. If this condition is not met, Caps won't transfer anything to Kings.

Depth with experience is never bad to have. At least it lessened A-ness odds

He's a decent player. Pretty sure he's a righty. Definitely a depth move, figures to be all cash (and not much of it). Can't say I see him playing unless there's more than one D injury or some bizarre, NHL-defenseman-hunting serial killer moves to town.

It's an upgrade over Ness anyway. Last I recall he could skate and move the puck a bit. It adds ~$145k to the cap while he's in Hershey IINM.

As long as Trotz doesn't get an itchy trigger finger I like the move.

From a Capitals perspective he isn't better than any of the top 6 but he really should be able to compete with Chorney as the 7D. From a Hershey perspective he should help immediately.

Bad move. Even if he stays with Hershey until the end of regular season, about 200k will hit against our salary cap, making less capspace for real upgrade.

Typical deadline GMBM&HCBT, nothing new.

I think it's time to come to terms with no major deals at the deadline.

But kings are covering that nhl cap so caps don't have to

Gilbert's caphit is $ 1,400,000, LAK retained $ 280,000 , so Gilbert's caphit for WSH is $ 1,120,000, and the difference between $ 1,120,000 and $ 950,000 goes agaisnt WSH caphit.

That's how it works, as I understand.
